The night’s biggest trend on the red carpet at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night was peplum dresses.
Charlize Theron (in Lanvin), Emma Stone (in Martin Grant), Emma Watson (in Brood), Julia Jones (in Joy Cioci) and Julianne Hough (in Sally LaPointe) all opted for peplum dresses.
Each look look was very different.
Charlize’s gave us strapless Parisian chic. Stone’s was two-tone and elegant. Watson was sporty, colourful and edgy. Julia popped on the red carpet with a bright neon colour and sharp detailing and Julianne gave us a cut-out version of this trend.

Love a good peplum…!!!! Though the midriff baring peplum is kind of bizarre.
God, Julianne’s look is getting worse!
Emma and Julia for me.
I used to like the peplum dress……………..until towie. It will never look the same again.
this is why I don’t watch it
I really like the peplum trend! I loved Emma Stone’s take on it best, despite the deflated skirt. Julia and Emma Watson also look good. Charlize’s didn’t work, and Julianne looks TERRIBLE.
I like Julia Jones’ look. It is unique and interesting plus she is damn beautiful.
Whatever one thinks of peplum dresses — and I rather like them — and whatever one thinks of the first 4 looks above, we have all learned something very important from this post:
Never mix midriff-baring with a peplum.
NEVER!!!!! PROHIBIDO! VERBOTEN! NEVER!!!!
Emma Stone looks great!
I absolutely love this trend! I have a peplum dress too and I wear it gladly.
From the pictured dresses, I love the one from Oasis.
And my favorite peplum looks from last night are all ladies pictured except Julianne Hough of course (taaaaacky).
I love the Oasis one too. that was my fave
