Crop tops are a celebrity staple when it comes to casual street style and festival, but recently the skin-baring look has been popping up all over the red carpet after dominating the Spring 2012 runways at Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Alexander Wang and Emilio Pucci.
When paired with high-waisted skirts and pants, this summer trend shows off a perfect slice of skin, without veering into ‘90s pop-star territory.
The goal of this new trend revival is not to show off your belly button, but rather just a sexy inch or two of skin around your midriff.
Kristen Stewart nailed the trend in a menswear-inspired look over the weekend, by pairing a Marios Schwab white crop top with high-waisted trousers and neon heels.
Go for a girlier look with inspiration from Freida Pinto in Salvatore Ferragamo, Jaime King in Proenza Schouler and Selena Gomez in Dolce & Gabbana and Scarlett Johansson in Dolce & Gabbana who all paired their crop tops with a flirty skirt.
You don’t have to pair your crop top with a high-waisted A-line skirt.
Other chic choices could include a high-waisted pencil skirt, pants, denim shorts, or a maxi skirt.

As I’m not a size 8 or 10, I don’t know how it would look on me. But I might try the Topshop embellished top, I really like it.
Will you try it FC?
I think I will despite feeling too old
I would go for one of the longer ones though like the Topshop one you mentioned
will never understand this trend at all.
+1 Can’t stand it.
I won’t be trying this out because I don’t have a flat stomach…*sigh* That Anthropologie top is pretty.
Oh no, not again… I was so happy when this trend died out in the early 2000′s…
And I love crop tops on celebrities!!
