Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark was joined by Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, Princess Isabella and Prince Christian in attending the christening of Princess Athena of Denmark at the Mogeltonder Church in Tonder, Denmark on Sunday.
Princess Mary wore a Project D dress designed by Dannii Minogue.
The Australian singer and former X Factor judge will be delighted to see a royal wearing her ‘Phoebe’ blue bird peplum dress.
Her gorgeous printed dress, which is a refreshing alternative to spring florals, was styled with a black Prada clutch and black heels.
Silver jewels and a half-up, half-down hairstyle completed her Sunday best look.
It looks like the Kate Middleton effect has spread to other royals who are seeking affordable fashion that we can relate to.

with so much public scrutiny and more people wondering were their taxes are going its no wonder royals are going ‘affordable’.
The other day Letizia was wearing head to toe mango and zara.
Exactly. It has more to do with the economy than with Kate.
it was a flippant comment (ie lacking in seriousness). I didn’t realize you would all take it so seriously.
Very sophisticated yet summery. Love this dress. The kids’ outfits look very good too.
+1 What a great summer dress!
i LOVE Princess Mary!! mainly cus she was born in Australia and then snagged herself a prince.
she looks wonderful.
i hope you do more of the European Royals….i think we will be seeing a lot of them as its Queens Jubilee year.
yes we will be. I will try to look out for them more
I really like her style. She’s always classy without being boring. Glad you featured her, FC!

I always hoped to see more of Princess Mary of Denmark style on your site, Fashion Critic
I think she is so BEAUTIFUL, so fresh, so natural, elegant and modern.

She looks lovely. I love the print.
Princess Isabella and Prince Christian are adorable.
She looks very pretty!
The Danish royal family has been under a lot of scrutiny for spending far too much money on luxury objects, like crocodile Birkins and custom made motorcycles so I guess this is a way to show that they can do affordable.
They actually did a session dedicated to the kids style at the “warm-up” for the christening.
Yes, Mary is stylish – but it is not something new that she is wearing affordable designs. She is often spotted in By Marlene Birger, Heartmade and other danish brands + Zara etc.
And I agree with the other commenters – please do more European royalty fashion!
I agree with Sara, its not a new habit for her to wear affordable fashion.
Princess Mette-Marit of norway is also very stylish, and so is crown princess Victoria of sweden on some occations. So plenty of royalties to keep an eye on
Yes, this absolutely isn’t a new trend. Though Kate does it too she’s not the first royal ever to not wear designer outfits. Mary has also worn H&M clothes on more than one occasion as well as the ones mentioned above
I concur with everyone else! MORE ROYALTY!!
Esp Mary
i love how mary is wearing designs from a fellow ozzie
she is my favorite royal lady, her style is just flawless all the time
I’m so happy you’ve featured this outfit! Incredibly flawless
Love the dress, Mary always looks outstanding and this is no exception. Yay for supporting our Aussie designers
The whole family is looking very lovely
Thank you for featuring Mary, FC!
I would hardly call this the ‘kate effect’ as Mary has been wearing highstreet before anyone even muttered Kate’s name.
Exactly! Mary has been rocking H&M, Zara and other high street brands for a looooooooooong time. And her style is SO much more interesting than Kates. And she’s prettier too.
Gorgeous, chic, elegant dress. Love the cute children’s outfits as well!
she looks classy, appropriate and fresh
”

- Not really, CP Mary, CP Mette-Merit, CP Victoria, CP Madeleine and CP Letizia did it way way before Kate and do it better tbh… But glad to see that you are covering more royalties as CP Mary is seriously uber stylist 90% of the time
As someone who lives in Denmark I can say as a fact that
Cp Mary does not wear affordable fashion not nearly
As much as some here make it out to be. Those outfits
Are few and far between. You will catch her in far more
Pravda and Hugo Boss and very little Danish designers.
They are constantly going over their budget in Denmark and asking
For more money from tax payers. Pfft…
This is simply not true. Check the annual report on their financial dealings which was published recently. They have a solid financial reserve and haven’t gone “over budget” in 2011 or 2010 so they have no reason to be asking for more money as well they aren’t. If they apply for government grants they will be given on the same terms as every other citizen in the country. Get your facts straight before you criticise. You may as well say it the way it is if you support abolishing the monarchy in Denmark in stead of making up your own facts. Being opinionated is welcomed in Denmark, but I’d hardly say lying is.
Try again. The reports do however say that Mary spends nearly 180,000 a month in clothing . Really and she still is ugly.
I love the Denmark royals
They are so gorgeous (esp. this family) I can’t wait to see the twins!
Mary is looking gorgeous as ever and always balancing the royal protocols of elegance while still having fun with prints and wearing season appropriate clothing. She is often my favourite royal to stalk on public outings. (though I also do enjoy Beatrice and Eugenie! they really like to experiment…errr….)
I agree with the others – Princess Mary was executing flawless ‘princess style’ long before Kate was on the scene. Interesting re the X Factor resume – I never knew that!
For all the royal fashion-fans out there: there´s a royal baptism taking place in stockholm today (22 may) so maybe there is some nice dresses there to watch
Keep an eye on Sopia Hellqvist, girlfriend of swedish price Carl Philip who is making her official debut today.
Fashion Critic, I decided to create a collage with one of the best looks of Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, just to emphasize her versatility (fashion wise) and her interest to mix up things every time, but remaining event appropriate.
I’ve uploaded the collage here: http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k295/cafea-cu-soare/princessmaryofdenmark.jpg
I hope to see more and more of Crown Princess Mary of Denmark on your site
At least, she’s not continously recycling shoes/clothes
Best wishes,
Ioana.
she looks very stylish
