Gemma Arterton In Gucci – ‘Once Upon A Time In America’ – Gucci Film Foundation Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Gemma Arterton sparkled on the red carpet at the ‘Once Upon A Time In America’ – Gucci Film Foundation’ premiere during the 2012 Cannes Film Festival at the Palais des Festivals this evening.

The British actress donned a one-of-a-kind Gucci gown for the occasion.

Her fully-beaded silver gown with organza straps is a work of art.

My only disappointments were the gold earrings (one should not mix metals) and her updo.

A sleeker hairstyle would be preferred.

For some reason I’m not wowed by this look. I agree that the gown is a work of art though.

  2. Jones19 May 18, 2012 at 20:08 #

Totally agree FC, the updo is too sloppy and the earrings should be silver. Otherwise this gown is hugging her in all the right places.

This Cannes festival has been SPECTACULAR! A never-ending row of drool-worthy dresses. Love this dress on her. I don’t really mind the earrings because it’s not screaming for attention. Great look!

Silver is such an obvious choice, gold earrings why?? doesn’t make sense, I just don’t get it. Agree on the hairstyle as well, it’s too messy.

And THIS is how you ruin a gorgeous dress with just the most awful styling ever. Thank you.

This flawless queen. I am totally inobjective when it comes to this woman. Have you not pointed the gold earings, I would have realized how much I dislike it.

Beautiful gown and a beautiful girl, but it’s very unflattering. Gemma should learn to dress for her body type.

    • Alina May 19, 2012 at 06:31 #

      I agree with you.

  8. A. May 18, 2012 at 20:23 #

    Little dull for my liking

  9. roxy May 18, 2012 at 20:25 #

I think the colour of the dress is too cold against her skin tone. She should have worn warmer make-up as she looks kind of washed out

  10. EmmaWoodhouse May 18, 2012 at 20:26 #

It’s Cannes. Just-got-out-of-the-shower hair and careless accessories do not cut it.
Not to mention that the bodice of the dress is not flattering.

this gown is simply wow.. but thumbs down to her styling part..
nothing is working good for me

  12. Rebecca Z May 18, 2012 at 20:37 #

This all looks really blah to me–no color, boring dress, uninspired styling. Not a fan.

I’d be interested in a closeup, because to me it appears that there is actually gold – or bronze – in the beading of this gown. Aside from that, the dress and hair beautifully showcase her gorgeous skin tone. This is dead on, for me.

I like this “mixing metals” thing. I just don’t like her very messy hair.

  15. sahil May 18, 2012 at 21:01 #

this gown is simply wow but thumbs down 2 her stylig which killed beauty of this art gucci peice
It’s a shame, nothing is working right for me in her look

  16. Anj May 18, 2012 at 21:02 #

Her earrings match some of the beading in her dress. Mixing gold and silver is an outdated fashion rule much like black and navy. I don’t see a problem with either.

    • Fee May 19, 2012 at 00:23 #

Agreed. Metals can be mixed if done properly (not like here) :)
Gemma’s had some pre-Cannes ‘freshening’ done I’d bet! Such a shame, she has a great face but couldn’t resist temptation obviously

What an absolutely beautiful woman, no fake curves, no bones or ribs poking out. Wish this was a more common sight on red carpets.

  18. Zineb May 18, 2012 at 21:28 #

The gown is similar to another Gucci Premiere gown that Salma wore last year to Cannes
    And I love it !

  19. Christine May 18, 2012 at 21:45 #

    Pretty beading. Love it!

  20. robbie May 18, 2012 at 23:12 #

the perfect accessory would have been a bird and a few eggs, because that hair looks a mess!

the dress is ruined by the straps.

  21. sara May 19, 2012 at 01:48 #

i don’t care about the hairstyle since she looks sooo beautiful

  22. pipsqueak May 19, 2012 at 03:18 #

Beautiful gown but not quite fitting for her body. But what’s truly disappointing is the updo, especially when viewed from the side. In the second picture, she looked like a crazy supporting character in a Hugh Grant rom-com or a crazy BFF to Sally Hawkins in the movie Happy Go Lucky.

  23. Amy May 20, 2012 at 01:07 #

    nice dress

  24. lex May 20, 2012 at 15:07 #

Is it just me or it she getting heavier?

    • Carolina Roq May 21, 2012 at 02:17 #

      yes

    • Nirina May 22, 2012 at 18:58 #

that’s what i noticed too.. but as long as she’s happy her weight shan’t faze us!

but yes the dress is beautiful, and she looks rather good in it, but her hair shoulda been let down, i don’t mind the gold earrings too much though.
