Marion Cotillard In Christian Dior Couture – ‘De Rouille et D’Os’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Marion Cotillard attended the premiere of her latest movie, ‘De Rouille et D’Os’ during the 2012 Cannes Film Festival this evening.

The French actress was not going to be upstaged by the L’Oreal girls as she donned a beautiful “go big or go home” Christian Dior Couture ball gown.

Her simple strapless sweetheart neckline gown has a black bodice and navy tulle skirt. It’s such a shame none of the photographers captured it properly.

A metal waistband nipped in her waist as Marion only added subtle Chopard jewels, including a hair accessory for her voluminous bun.

Parisian elegance at its finest.

Pure elegance and beauty. Marion has said that where she’s from is the equivalent of Bronx in New York. But look at her, and then look at Jennifer Lopez from Bronx. Marion shows us that you can rise way, way above your circumstances, if you have talent. Love the minimal accessories. Love that the belt. She also proves that you don’t need bleach blonde or an orange tan to look pretty.

I love this dress on her – navy blue is so elegant and the fit is divine, the bodice is perfect and shows off her figure beautifully. LOVE the hair, buns are so in now, my only teensy gripe is I would have liked at least some earrings, it looks like she forgot to put them on.

  10. Sharon May 18, 2012 at 00:12 #

Lovely, absolutely lovely. Put her on the BDOTY list with Karolina!

  11. Riley May 17, 2012 at 22:28 #

Whilst the gown is chic and elegant, it is boring.

Boring is often chic and elegant but at the end of the day, BORING.

Why didn’t she choose a Galliano Couture gown from his Spring 2011 collection?

I do love the hair with the look.

  12. Faellie May 17, 2012 at 21:47 #

Fit never matters more than with a strapless bodice, and the fit on that strapless bodice is superb. Full marks, and everyone else who is going to wear a strapless bodice on the red carpet, please take note!

  13. noo May 17, 2012 at 21:42 #

i am so happy for her! she looks divine, the best look from her in ages 😀 😀 i would have loved her to pose alone so we could revel in how awesome this looks!!!

  14. gi May 17, 2012 at 21:31 #

this very well may be the first dress by raf simons we are seeing on marion. although it may be an altered version of a dress from fall 2008 couture…i really dont think so. this looks a lot like raf to me…

  15. Aline May 17, 2012 at 21:30 #

This has been a very hectic week for me and I haven’t been able to comment, unfortunately. I just refresh the page from time to time. But man, after seeing Marion in this dress I just HAD to comment over how GORGEOUS she looks. I love it to death.

Charlize and Marion were born to wear Dior *le sigh*

Best Dressed of Canne so far. so simple and elegant

  17. Leo May 17, 2012 at 21:19 #

Classic elegance. It’s not breathtaking but nobody can deny it is beautiful.

  18. Delphine May 17, 2012 at 21:06 #

Oh my god! Cannes is much actually better than the Oscars and the MET ball put together…
Stunning! This is how I like Marion Cotillard. I love it and I am a sucker for big chignons and big buns.
    Again BDOW and BDOTY!

    • Zerina May 17, 2012 at 20:51 #

      Agreed. 🙂

  22. Charlotte May 17, 2012 at 20:24 #

I think this look is quite refreshing, it’s not your typical ballgown, but indeed subtle and elegant. And I adore the hair accessory!

  23. Amy May 17, 2012 at 20:20 #

she’s divine. I mean the hairdo+ makeup is flawless. Well done Marion

  24. A. May 17, 2012 at 20:14 #

She’s too beautiful. really. enough said.

  25. Ramsay May 17, 2012 at 20:13 #

I think that’s the first Raf Simons design we see (all the others were taken from the Bill Gatten’s collections)

    • Ramsay May 17, 2012 at 20:16 #

I am not crazy about her hair by the way (just like at the Met)

    • Lee Ann May 18, 2012 at 13:10 #

I’m not sure because it does feel like Raf and I do not recognise it so it could be his but think its a bit premature for Dior to present any thing before his July debut. I think its probably a Bill G that didn’t make it on to the runway.

      • Fashion Critic May 18, 2012 at 13:18 #

It does have Raf all over it. Very excited about his first collection.

  26. Zineb May 17, 2012 at 20:06 #

Dior has made the perfect choice choosing Marion as the face of the brand. She gives their designs justice. Magnifique!

  27. Sara May 17, 2012 at 19:59 #

    I’m speechless…

  28. Sophie May 17, 2012 at 19:55 #

    Empress of Cannes!

  29. gabis May 17, 2012 at 19:50 #

I don’t think I have enough words to describe how much I LOVE her look. Let’s just say that if I was to marry in a few days I’d wanna look exactly like that but on a white version. BDOTY <3 <3 <3

  30. Pablo May 17, 2012 at 19:49 #

“Parisian elegance at its finest.” Ditto!!

Ps- What a crazy commenting flow!! Got to love Cannes!! 😀

  31. Erik May 17, 2012 at 19:47 #

Wow.. in a bad way. I don’t like this at all.. I hate the length of the bodice, I feel like the dress would have been better had the skirt started from where the belt is

  32. dee May 17, 2012 at 19:45 #

Gorgeous from head to toe. I just found my BD of the Day 2 of Cannes.

  33. Laura May 17, 2012 at 19:45 #

WOW !!! Her hair …. ! She looks beautiful, but I think it misses some jewels or a clutch.

  34. Markel May 17, 2012 at 19:45 #

She looks really beautiful, so elegant!! Love it!

  35. Leeann May 17, 2012 at 19:43 #

This is what elegance is about. Compared to this Eva looks trashy and Fan bing bing a try too hard

    • rashmi May 17, 2012 at 20:51 #

      totally agree!

I can see everything well enough to know this is a homerun – simple but perfect.

  38. Nat May 17, 2012 at 19:42 #

Nothing better than the understated French elegance chic

  39. Nat39 May 17, 2012 at 19:42 #

J’adore. Loving the subtle simplicity of the look with just the right amount of bling, great fit, beautiful small waist, perfect hair and makeup.

  40. Ro May 17, 2012 at 19:42 #

    She looks absolutely stunning.

  41. Alina May 17, 2012 at 19:40 #

FLAWLESS! I just love the whole vibe of it.

    • EmmaWoodhouse May 18, 2012 at 03:37 #

I feel the same way!!! I cannot nitpick one single flaw about this look. So often, strapless gowns sit too low but Marion’s is perfectly fitted. She looks AMAZING. Love it!

  42. Tiffany May 17, 2012 at 19:39 #

“Parisian elegance at its finest.” Speak on it, FC. She’s back. Simple, classic, luxurious.
