Some of you were feeling a sense of déjà vu when Eva Longoria stepped out onto the red carpet for the 2012 Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony and ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ premiere this evening.
The same can’t be said for Freida Pinto’s Michael Angel look, because it was totally fresh and original.
Her strapless dress with a multi-coloured crystallized bodice and pink draped skirt with a thigh-high split is one-of-a-kind.
The look was which is accented with a silver waistband and styled with bejeweled Louis Vuitton lizard miniaudiere which complemented the bodice of her dress plus shimmering silver Louis Vuitton platform sandals is stunning.
I have a feeling this might be a Marmite dress, but I think this is one of Freida best ever looks.
A sweeping updo and Chopard jewels provided the finishing touches.

Frieda looks lovely. And the gown is stunning. Very creative and refreshing look!
LOVE IT! its really original for her and thats what you want to see at cannes. i really like the accessories not sure about the platform on the shoe but i think she gets away with it as they compliment the dress pretty well.
I totally agree.
I like the dress, but she looks very short. On the other hand, Eva Longoria looked 5’10”+ in her Marchesa gown.
There’s something off/hunched about Freida’s posture here which makes her look patently short. Freida did look 5’10+ in Antonio Berardi at the Immortals premier last year, so we know she can work it.
Love Freida’s unexpected, sweet/edgy look!
Agree — I love the dress and the way Freida looks, but wish the waist was more tightly cinched to give her more shape. Despite the peplum, she looks slightly boxy.
Definitely on of Freida’s best looks. I love how the colors look against her skin tone, I love that she didn’t wore pumps, I love that she didn’t chose a boring clutch, I love her hair, I love her make-up.. Guess I love everything here.
The bustier is gorgeous! Though I’m not too sure about the draping of the skirt. May be if I come back to it or stare at it a bit more it’ll grow on me.
…maybe not.
Meep, I meant bodice. (massive facepalm)
wonderful delight !
Okay I LOVE this. I love everything about this unique off-kilter (but in the best way) gown.
She accessorized perfectly. Her clutch is divine and her shoes are a great choice. Swoon swoon swoon.
Michael Angel should make custom looks for her as his runway looks are’t Freida Friendly.
Totally one of her best looks.
I agree with every word. The jewellery is especially perfect and gorgeous, the green earrings and the pink ring are so perfect (I looked at closeups on Getty).

I really liked it until I got to the shoes and toenail polish – they don’t work at all for me.
Agreed – the shoes & toenail polish might be ruining this entire look + the bodice makes her look really short-waisted which isn’t flattering. And the peplum is a bit large on her small frame…but the shoes are killing me.
I love this look! It’s so refreshing to see some colour. All of the blush/nude/black gowns we’ve been seeing need some of the fun this dress has.
Yessss, fabulous!
Yes, this is one of her best look (alongside her first Oscar Christian Dior look, and Antonio Berardi last year at Immortal premiere.
And what i love about her, is that everytime she hit red carpet, she always bring a new, fresh look. Her look never look the same, so far.
I agree: different red carpet, different look!
Now, this i LOVE!
Beautiful! Love the bodice of the dress and her hair and makeup.. she looks divine in the closeup shots.. Would have preferred a delicate sandal with the dress though!
I love that this is so different and she looks pretty but I think this would look better on someone who could fill out the top more.
Absolutely breathtaking, refreshing, gorgeous!!! My fav so far!
just gorgeous
From the ankles up I agree with you, FC. It’s one of her best looks ever. Hair and makeup are fantastic. Too bad I can’t stand silver platform sandals, otherwise I’d grant an A+.
Trust Freida to wear something different and still work the hell out of it! Her make up is spot on as always and I loved the way the bright pink color contrasted the red carpet! She looks so fresh and bright and what a lovely smile
Oooh I love this dress! Such a pretty colour scheme and she looks gorgeous!
This look is growing on me. I like it that it is so unexpected. But I am not really liking the shoe choice. Also, the hair on her face is bothering me. But I love her clutch choice.
I dont like the bodice of the dress.
I really love this! Dear FC, what do you mean “marmite dress”? I did some research, do you mean “hate it or love it”? Keep up the good work, as always! (and may your wish list come true
yes…love it or hate it.
This is definitely one of freida’s best ever looks! Love this look from head to toe…especially her flawless makeup!
That is one beautiful dress. I do wish the bodice was more fitted or that it was on someone who would fill it out more.
She picked great accessories. I love the earrings, the clutch and the shoes.
Hair, make-up and face are flawfree as usual.
love it
Just like at the Golden Globes I think her waist is too high in that dress (which if it weren’t for that detail I would’ve liked)
I’m lusting after that dress. A total knockout. My only knitpick is with those shoes. XP From the ankles up, this look is DIVINE.
I’m not digging that crazy peplum drapey thing.
I’m loving this look. Such an inspired and unexpected choice by Frida. Kudos.
she looks great – such a refreshing look on her!
I don’t like it. Not this round.
SO beautiful! She nearly always blows me away with her colourful style and charming smile.
And thanks so much for covering, FC! Your coverage is superb.
thank you x

OK.
She could use some training in the posing and standing department. She’s beautiful and so are the clothes. She exudes sweetness and warmth, but not enough confidence.
As I don’t like thigh-high slits, that element of the gown doesn’t work for me. I also think it makes the look too cluttered. I do love the soft peplum and luscious pink skirt, but the bustier has me undecided. Is it bold and beautiful, or too kitschy? Not sure.
Love her hair here.
The bodice is extraordinarily beautiful. She looks sweet
love it too cause it’s so refreshing and different, even if it makes her little bit boxy & short, still love it
Love it, especially the colours!! So fresh and gorgeous!! I have a feeling this is going to be an awesome 12 days of style from Freida
Stunning, the colours are devine, FC your doing an amazing job as always with your site
thank you Katie x
I love the dress, but I don’t like the shoes and the hairstyle.
Hate it:( cheap-looking prom dress
This gown is a work of art. Frieda is very lucky to wear it, just amazing.
