As you know, Elizabeth Banks has been my favourite on the red carpet this year so far, but I wasn’t crazy about the dress she wore to last night’s New York premiere for her latest movie, ‘What To Expect When You’re Expecting’.
Her Peter Pilotto Fall 2012 beaded floral-print dress, with cut-outs on the bodice, is stunning on the runway, but I’m not feeling it on Elizabeth.
I think it has something to do with the styling. Maybe it would’ve worked better for me if she had stripped back the glamour and worked a simpler look.
A black clutch and Walter Steiger black peep-toes completed the look.

I don’t know FC, I kind of love this on her. What would’ve made it better for me was a different shoe choice
I agree. The shoes could have been better but I love this on her too. I hated her Met Gala look.
+1, word for word. I thought she looked liked a crazy lady and I love many of Mary Katrantzou’s designs.
I completely agree!
Yeah, I’m liking this one on her too! But it could be because I’m personally obsessed with this line…and another shoe choice would have really made this outfit sing!
I also agree! A different shoe would have been good but I do like this dress on Elizabeth
I’m sad – the second look I don’t like from her.
I prefer this to the one she wore at the Met Ball but I do wish she wore the shoes on the model. The black ones kill it
Not working for me either, the shoes are horrible and the styling is aging.
This particular pic looks like she’s on her way to a case of the Jolie-leg.
I think she looks absolutely stunning. It’s a complicated dress to pull off and I think she does it with impeccable elegance. I’m totally in love with Effie (I mean, Elizabeth Banks) this season
I agree with Pablo, and, for once disagree with FC: She looks elegant, beautiful and graceful –I am even liking the shoes.
I disagree. She’s glowing and totally working that dress
I hate those shoes, and I’m not too sure about the dress either, but I think she is working it.
I love how her lipstick compliments the details on the dress.
I’m totally feeling it on her. Boring shoe choice, though.
Apart from her shoe choice – I think she is totally working the look. I really like it on her, better shoes would have made this a 10.
+1
Should’ve pulled her hair back and worn a bright red shoe to match that red detailing. Since the dress is mostly a light colour the black heels way the look down.
stunning
+1. It’s interesting, she has been far from my favorite on the red carpet, until now. This is awesome.
I really like this–I don’t even mind the shoes. I am surprised it doesn’t work for you, FC.
I think she wears too much makeup sometimes and it detracts from a beautiful dress. I love her brave choices but she needs to dial down the shine and be a little more European in her approach if this makes sense ….
Your comment makes sense to me, I have often felt the same thing about Elizabeth, she needs a new approach to her makeup….
Oh I actually LOVE this on her!! I think the prob the retro hair and the lip. It’s so sexy on her, it needed the slicked back hair or even hair down and tousled.
I for one quite like this look. In fact I think it’s one of her better looks so far this year, excluding the two lovely Hunger Games gowns, because those will be hard to beat.
i love this look, it’s true the styling is a bit dita von teese but that isn’t a bad thing
oh god its the pump version of those “alien” looknig boots victoria beckham had, who could honestly think they are nice to look at. the make-up is pretty over done, clearly the same make-up artist a certain miss aguilera. dress is DIVINE though.
Different shoes and it would be a 10 for me.
Were it not for the slits, cutouts and sheers I would like this. It’s just too revealing in odd places for me.
Smaller clutch and strappy sandals. I hate those Steiger shoes. Ugly and clunky. They ruined her Marc Jacobs dress.
I actually love this. I actually like the cut-outs (which is rare for me), I like the fit on her figure more than on the model. Like others, I dislike the shoes, but the dress is kind of fabulous.
She’s so brave to picked this dress, but i have to agree with FC.
I like this a lot. It’s a risk, as her Met Gala dress was, and this one works a lot better, IMO.
I love this! I think she looks amazing, much better than Met gala
She really is one of my favourites to watch.
