Renée Zellweger In Emilio Pucci – 2012 Met Gala

We were all shocked when it was announced that Renée Zellweger was not going to be wearing Carolina Herrera to the 2012 Met Gala, held in New York City on Monday evening.

Fear not, because Peter Dundas for Emilio Pucci designed this elegant black silk gown especially for the actress.

The gown features chiffon details, an organza train and a sexy open back.

A sleek updo and silver chandelier earrings completed her look.

This is the most amazing look I’ve ever seen from Renee! My jaw dropped – she is working the hell out of that dress!

  2. Dhppy May 9, 2012 at 02:43 #

She and Camilla Belle were my faves of the night. Again, I feel the photos aren’t doing justice compared to the livestream. I think, because of the dark color of the dress, the details are getting lost in photos. This was a gasper.

that is how you wear see-thru. that is how you wear a train! love it! that is the body-type for the dress. fabulous!

Wow, this is a great look for Renee. This is a very different side of her style. In my head she is always associated with colour but I the dramatic impact of this black gown. Love it

WOW! This has blown me away! This is the best I have sene Renee in a very long time. Truly beautiful.

You know, I don’t love this look. It’s just leaving me really cold–possibly the diagonals have something to do with it, maybe the sheer sleeves…anyway, I’d almost prefer a stunning Carolina Herrera gown to this.

    YESSSSSS! She looks a-ma-zing!!!!

Love the panel detail but I don’t like the organza train, the dress should’ve have been kept sleek and streamlined imo

This might as well be one my favourite looks of the night! She looks stunning and the dress is perfect on her! I think she should really consider trying other designers apart from Carolina Herrera and maybe wear more looks from Emilio Pucci, because this look is perfect!

Her back is FLAWLESS, but this is a very forgettable look.

    She looked great.

  11. Andreea May 8, 2012 at 12:59 #

She looks good, but when i see this dress i imagine someone more sophisticated and bold in it.

    • Yeliz May 8, 2012 at 15:41 #

Exactly. But the looks great nonetheless.

      • Yeliz May 8, 2012 at 15:41 #

This is so 90s, in such a good way!!! And Renee of all people to pull it off.

This and Kate Bosworth – with their 90s inspiration are the Best Dressed of the night and week for me!!!

Because this look is amazing, now, it’s time for her to say goodbye to Carolina Herrera dresses.

i was floored when i saw this 😀 the pairing with carolina herrera never impressed me and i knew she could do better! today i was proved right, she is absolutely glowing and elegant 😀

while i appreciate the effort, her chest looks too wide in the dress. maybe it’s just the picture…

she is always showing off her back. it’s a nice back, but kind of muscular, no?

  19. Sarah May 8, 2012 at 06:37 #

Wow… is that really Renee? A-MA-ZING!

  20. Mandy May 8, 2012 at 06:34 #

Love love love ! Crazy Renee is gone. This woman doesnt need much. A simple dress like this one goes on for miles !!

  21. Christine May 8, 2012 at 06:24 #

    Absolutely BDOTW! Drool Worthy.

  22. argentina May 8, 2012 at 06:17 #

She must go in to the BDOTN not sure if directly to BDOTW

  23. pipsqueak May 8, 2012 at 06:04 #

Stunning, sexy and sophisticated! The tail has a foxy or feline feel, which really suits Renee. And finally, she wore something other than Carolina Herrera! Something much more hip and exciting.

  24. Riley May 8, 2012 at 06:02 #

This is nice but not wow. It’s forgettable.

    Renee’s looks blend into one.

But this is a great change up from Carolina Herrera who I am sick of on Renee.

One of my favorites of the night. And her face is looking much less harsh than it has been lately. Best she’s looked in years.

  26. Tina May 8, 2012 at 06:00 #

Very pretty dress! She looks great here. I really like the black color, surprisingly. It really works on her and the dramatic effect it creates is breathtaking. One of my favourites tonight.

I am also seeing some trends here – the open back, the dark lip colour. It’s going to be interesting to look back and spot these details later.

  27. shap_half May 8, 2012 at 05:58 #

She looks absolutely stunning. One of my favorites of the night.

    • shap_half May 8, 2012 at 06:31 #

I think my favorite part of this dress is how the paneling created a wonderful silhouette — at once sexy and regal.

      • J May 8, 2012 at 12:28 #

Love this too. I was also surprised she wasn’t wearing Herrera.
