Gwyneth Paltrow never fails to amaze on the red carpet, so I knew the 2012 Met Gala, held in New York City on Monday evening, would be no exception.
Wearing a Prada steel blue duchesse halter neck dress, Gwynie did not disappoint.
With inverted back pleats and micro-paillettes embroidered patch pockets, a simple silhouette is given a complete makeover.
Like Kate Bosworth, Gwyneth proves that short dresses can be every bit as glamorous.
Steel blue Prada shoes with embellished heels, Anna Hu Haute Joaillerie hooped earrings, a statement ring and a satin blush Prada clutch accessorized her look.
A sleek center-parted bun provided the finishing touch.

while i appreciate her physique (god knows, she works hard at it), i do not think a woman of her age shld be wearing this short a skirt. it just is not age appropriate to me.

i completely agree. i cannot stress it enough. it is a GALA. sophisticated elegance trumps any stunt for a “wow” moment. this doesn’t hold up to any expectation of glamor. side boob is NOT the business! great work-out regimen… complete fail on the dress!
Side boob? Not sure I am finding this a bit sexy. If it wasn’t for the design on the side, it would be borderline tacky to me.

This is a great colour and it creates a very interesting silhouette with he flair bottom that is longer behind than in the front. Love the makeup, hair, accessories, and shoes. The only I find distracting is the revealed side boob – takes away the sophistication of such a pretty dress.

I think it’s pretty interesting that Gweneth, Kate and Carey were all given dresses with almost identical silhouettes by Prada, yet each of them rocked their looks in totally different ways. Would love to see a picture of them all together!

Only Gwyneth could pull this dress off and not get slammed. I’m not sure I like it, but it sure is different. Love the color but just too much for me I think. Love the earrings and the side panels. As my girl VB says, sexy is one or the other. I think if we had the side boobage with something different going on with the hemline, I would have been more on board.

Prada really wanted to prove the point that you don’t have to wear a gown on the red carpet and she succeeded – all the Prada dresses of the night were beautiful and this is another with the detailing on the side, her rocking body and beautiful – on my BD list

Good lord – I thought this was an awful choice. Side boob, too short and front looks a bit crumpled. Not sure I am quite seeing what you are but thought this was awful for Gwyneth. She should of taken the Tom Ford route.
She’s too old for this dress. I think anyone over 25 is probably too old for it. The side boob is tacky and in other pics from the from, it made her boobs look droopy and her stomach look pouchy. Just not flattering. Love the earrings though.

I love the fit, it’s different, she looks so chic, and she has the body to pull it off. On others this may look borderline trashy, but on her it looks so effortlessly chic, one of my faves of the night.

This is the rare dress that looked better in photos than it did on the livestream. When I saw it there I thought “No, Gwyneth”. Now, I don’t immediately reject it. I still don’t love it. The bejewelled pockets don’t look anywhere near as ridiculous as I had thought. Side boob doesn’t bother me, but the hemline does.
