Carrie Underwood returned to the ‘American Idol’ stage on Thursday evening for a very dramatic performance of her new single ‘Blown Away’ which is the title track of her new album.
The country singer, who found fame on the show, wore a Theia Spring 2012 bridal gown.
Her stylist customized the gown with a thigh-high split by adding chiffon accents on the shoulder and a black sash to the waist.
In a further attempt to lose the bridal feel of the original look, the singer added GIO DIEV grey ostrich velvet and black patent sandals with black lacquer Samurai heels to give the look an edge.
Do the modifications improve this look for you? Or do you prefer the presented version?

Modified version all the way.
I would like to refrain from referring to this look as perfect but can’t deny it’s right there on my lips, ready to slip out! She looks dramatically gorgeous! And while normally any white or whitish dress look bridal on her (as well as on maaaaany others), this dress is perfectly stagewear!
Why wear something form Bridal collection only to try make it look less bridal? Where’s logic in it?
LOL, I totally agree.
LOL, thats what I thought.. We have seen this silhouette and design on a load of dresses. I guess they went for a generic white dress that could be modified a lot since the Theia one is standing out for its uniqueness!
Exactly what I was thinking.
Totally agree with you….
This is very deja vu. We’ve seen this look from Carrie a million times before–and I’m really tired of thigh-high slits!
Love it, what a great way to transform a bridal gown and show off those great legs!! Her look is edgy but still pretty with the black sash accenting the waist and bold shoes being a perfect statement element.
I am indifferent to the whole look. I wish we could see more of the shoes as they are the best part of the look. She can do better.
carrie’s version is nice, i like the fluffy shoulder
and the belt
Sorry…Carrie will never ever get an edge… whatever she wears. This is no exception…I looooove the shoes though..
Her stylist managed to turn a bridal gown into a pretty hot stage outfit, I like it. Those shoes look badass.
looks very beauty pageant
First thing came to mind: Why wear something form Bridal collection only to try make it look less bridal???
But I’ve seen the performance and I know the song is about child abuse and her abusive father.. So the change make more sense!
And with that information I go with the modified version of the dress. It looks sooo dramatic and hot at the same time!
It works for the stage.
I like both versions equally. As a Bridal gown it is gorgeous and I really like the alterations, especially the black belt and omg those shoes look awesome!!
The gown itself is a rerun with a bit of fabric added to the shoulder. How many times have we seen this exact look? Very underimpressed.
Hmm… maybe in a different color the modified version would have been “less bridal”. Right now it just looks like Carrie trying to be edgy but is still very very sweet looking. Love the shoes though.
The original gown is just beautiful.
Carrie looked sensational in the gown and if her stylist felt that
she needed to be sexier on American Idol= she did. However, if
she wore the gown without any changes, she would have looked
spectacular and very classy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
