Zooey Deschanel attended the 2012 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, held at the Washington Hilton on Saturday evening.
The star of ‘New Girl’ chose an Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2012 gown, not shown in the runway presentation.
Her strapless light grey gown, embellished with metallic silver polka-dot embroidery, is beautiful in true Oscar de la Renta form, but the dress would’ve looked better had it been hemmed, no?
A side ponytail, red lips and kohl-rimmed eyes, which are a tad too heavy for her delicate look, provided the finishing touches.

have celebrities never heard of a tailor before??
I completely agree with you FC, the dress needs to be hemmed and the makeup is way too heavy. Beautiful dress though and she looks so tall here.
If the dress would’ve been shorter and her make-up different then I would’ve liked this look, otherwise not.

This is what this looks reminds me of…. Way too long!!!! Could have been sensational if Paula Pattons stylist didn’t dress her!
ya, I saw that she has the same stylist as Paula Patton as well as Olivia Wilde. Screaming boring, over rated, and poor choices for all of her actresses
Good point. Time to hire a new stylist, Ladies.
She looks lovely but the dress is so long, why? They have stylists, hairdressers, make up artists and not a taylor who can shorten a hem?
Ditto.
+2 How can she move in this?
Zooey is so adorable that I’d forgive the makeup if the dress weren’t puddling all over the floor. Even so, this is one of my favorite looks of the evening.
Well….there’s something off with the fit on the top, and it’s too long. But atleast she doesn’t look completely horrible. The thing is that it’s just so blah. She dresses like this almost all the time. When will she step out of her comfort zone? I’m bored of her!
This gown is perfect for Zooey.
I would have loved the look, but the lenght of the dress and the fact that it sits to low on her bust throw me off.
I completely agree Nat. Quite often the tops of her dresses seem to small. She’s one big sigh away from a nip slip. Dress is also too long. If it were fixed, it would have been the best of the week.
I also notice that the tops of her strapless dresses are always too low. Too much makeup for such a beautiful girl.
Strapless dress at a formal dinner? Not quite right.
the length ruins it, but otherwise it is a nice look.
She really needs a tailor, it seems like the gown is too heavy and it drops
I agree too long.
Meh. Zooey Deschanel is not a boring red carpet dresser, so it pains me to shrug my shoulders and walk away
I saw that she has the same stylist as Paula Patton and Olivia Wilde. Whoever this stylist is, celebs need to STAY AWAY from her (I know it’s a she has I’ve seen pictures of her).
No, just no.
This reminds me of Michelle Williams’s sad Golden Globes dress last year. Tsk, tsk–the whole things a disaster. Drab, unhemmed, unfitted, messy hair and makeup. Try a bit harder next time, Zooey!
The dress itself is lovely, but she ruins it.
Can hardly look past the horrible makeup, her face looks like a mask, way overdone, either accent the eyes or the lips not both at the same time, and easy on the blush.
