Lucy Liu joins Rashida Jones, Florence Welch and Beyonce Knowles in sporting bold, daring prints this week.
The actress was spotted on her way to the ABC studios in New York City, for a guest appearance on ‘Good Morning America’ to talk about her role in ‘Southland’ where she sheds her glamour girl image to play a cop.
She looked lovely, as always, wearing a Thakoon Spring 2012 dress.
The Indian-inspired printed dress was teamed with a beige coat and matching YSL sandals.
It’s interesting how we have three different versions of one dress on this post.
The runway version has a slightly different print to Lucy’s dress. The dress on Net-A-Porter has the same print as Lucy’s dress, but her dress doesn’t have the gold lamé hem.
If I purchased this dress I wouldn’t cut off the gold hem, as it is very much an integral part of the overall piece, but I understand why it may have seemed too much for a morning talk show.

she always looks so lovely and polished!
Also just noticed in the side column that the MET Gala is on soon – Now I’m excited!!
I’ve been excited about that for a while.
Do you know who makes the shoes she is wearing? They look like they would go with many things.
she´s pettit, so maybe she cut off the lamé hem just for to look taller, IMO
yep, that’s a good analysis
As a 1,60 m girl, I was thinking the same. The dress was shortened to make it more flatering to her height. With the gold lamé part the hem would hit mid calf, wich isn’t very becoming when you are short.
Agreed FC. I love the gold lame, it lifts the whole look and takes the dress to another level.
thank god she ditched the lame hem, it looks really ugly with it. love this look head to toe.
I love her!
Removing the gold was a good choice in my opinion. It would have been too long on her otherwise.
Lovely and polished as always from Ms Liu!
I actually prefer the version Jessica Alba wore… I don’t like this print.
Good look for TV. I’m bored of this collection, especially this print. It’s been worn too much.
I LOVE this look–like that she did away with the hem as that would a bit OTT. The coat and sandals are the perfect touch. This is a great look–10 out of 10 for me!
I really like this dress on Lucy, I agree about the metallic comment, but I prefer what she did to this dress than what Jessica Alba did.
