Dakota Fanning hit the red carpet for the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival Vanity Fair Party in New York City to celebrate the opening of the festival which runs from April 18 through to April 29.
The young actress wore a Lanvin Pre-Fall 2012 dress.
Her vibrant fuchsia pink frock is pretty, fun and youthful, but her tan Lanvin pumps are a tad conservative for the look.
Also I don’t get what’s going on north of her eyebrows. What is that thing on her head?
We asked her to do something new with her hair, not her head.
A gold clutch and copper eyeshadow completed her look.
Whilst I like this look, I’m baffled by the shoe choice and the headband, plus I think I miss the belt.

I just don’t get this.
Me, too.
you’re so right about the belt bit. It would have looked nicer with the belt. and is that even a headband? she could have worn a clip, or maybe gone for an updo. I don’t like the headband, but overall, she’s looking nice. love the color on that dress.
How I do adore this dress. Simple, great lines, wonderful color but what a shame about the distracting accessories. At first I thought someone squiggled a Halo on her head. Then I thought the shoes were orange (which would have had some wow factor!). I think the attempt was to match the accessories to the straps of the dress … Which is the only explanation I can think of!
“At first I thought someone squiggled a Halo on her head” … I thought the same too.
I thought perhaps you were trying to draw attention to something. It photographs quite badly and is such an odd choice of hair accessory with such a glamorous dress. She is adorable though!
Thumbs up for the halo x)
Agreed! It looks like it was badly photoshopped onto her head!
I would’ve loved orange shoes with this dress!
“We asked her to do something new with her hair, not her head”.
So true, i’m with you.
I like the dress, but the styling is awful!
It just looks like somebody drew this thing on her head on the picture. Doesn’t make sense at all.
Love the dress on her but totally baffled by the rest. I would love to see a more adventurous lip colour on her.
The dress was better on the model, with the belt! Why would take the belt off? As for her styling, it is truly terrible. That headband will haunt my dreams…
This whole look is a mess.
The skirt is way too structured to work with a belt, it made the model look a little balloon-like for my taste, so I totally understand why she opted not to wear it and unlike in Naomi Watts peplum dress case, here it was the right choice. The dress looks a lot better without the belt.
I do agree with you on the styling, very poor and not at all complimentary. A ponytail would’ve helped.
But the dress is gorgeous and I would love to see it on Emma Watson.
What’s up with the Halo? LOL.
She must have big ears. That’s the unique explain
She butchered a gorgeous dress.
What was her stylist thinking????
FC why are there fashion blunders when there is so much at stake for the stylist? And when the celebs pay the stylists so much money?
*shrugs*…I wish I knew
For me there is no explanation for wearing that headband. I liked the dress on the model but it doesn’t work on Dakota.
Yes, the hairband look rather curious.
