Coleen Rooney In Philip Armstrong – John Smith’s Grand National Ladies’ Day

More WAG watch as Coleen Rooney was out again today at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool, England with her WAG-a-licious posse for the John Smith’s Grand National Ladies’ Day.

Coleen showed her support for local Liverpool designer Philip Armstrong by looking uber cute wearing one of his dresses.

Last month she tweeted how much she loved this sleeveless dress has a lace top with a structural flares skirt.

She accessorized with Christian Louboutin peep-toes and a black fold-over clutch.

A top knot and diamond-studded earrings completed the look.

This is quite a refined look for the WAG don’t you agree?

Love or loathe?

    Love.

“Common as muck” as my mother used to say

    • Nia April 13, 2012 at 16:51 #

LOL! I must say I agree. It’s such a refined and elegant look but somehow she still looks trashy, I’m not sure what it is.

  3. robbie April 13, 2012 at 15:33 #

why does she always wear such chunky heavy looking shoes, they just ruin reasonably ladylike looks.

although i am heart broken that the women behind her in the mary katrantzou topshop dress is wearing bricks with such a beautiful dress.

    • Artemis April 13, 2012 at 15:44 #

lol Me too!!.I just looked at the bunch of tackyness behind her..

      • Riley April 13, 2012 at 16:00 #

I agree with you two- I am laughing at how tacky all the women behind her are. Both of the women behind Coleen look like they are wearing wigs.

Coleen is my favorite WAG and Queen WAG, as Victoria Beckham, though a WAG is no longer a WAG in spirit (if you know what I mean- remember her rather trashy Roberto Cavalli days?) and the fact that she has a job.

In closing, her Louboutins are too clunky, high and trashy. She must have hundreds by now. Pick another pair.

        • Fashion Critic April 13, 2012 at 16:04 #

Her Cavalli days were epic. I miss those days :)

        • andrea April 13, 2012 at 16:20 #

Notice how all the ladies in the pics are looking down… because they cant walk in those stupid towering shoes. Teeter tottering in ones shoes is the most unattractive thing a lady can possibly do. Get a clue women!!

          • jkrau April 17, 2012 at 06:42 #

Yep the only thing I see in this pic is the parade of stripper shoes! So sad that that’s become the height of fashion….. (no pun intended, ha)

      • Nat April 13, 2012 at 18:27 #

LOL, the first thing that catched my eye in this picture is that parade of chuncky pumps and sandals.
I’m praying for the day when these awful mega-platform pumps will go away (or, at least, go back to be accetable only on strippers).
Whoever decided that they were in fashion/classy/on trend should be held criminally liable.

p.s. The dress is cute, but the overall look is…mmmhhh…not great.

        • Beta April 15, 2012 at 00:16 #

          YES please!!
anyways, its always funny to see WAGs try to blend in with the old money hehe

        • manja April 16, 2012 at 09:10 #

+2,this photo is grand,CR looks like a mother chicken leading her flock, and they all use the same tacky formula.too funny.and these shoes shd be band forever, hate them with passion.

  4. Jones19 April 13, 2012 at 15:34 #

It’s kind of meh for me, too stiff a look for her.

  5. AW April 13, 2012 at 15:38 #

She looks cute, the shoes should be better but its good overall.

  6. Lori April 13, 2012 at 15:43 #

The army of WAG’s behind her is terrifying. Too…much…Louboutins…Is it just me or have Louboutins become the official shoe of trashy rich people? Those red soles that used to look so classy now just look garish.

    • Riley April 13, 2012 at 15:56 #

I agree. Manolos are more subtle and classy now. Some of Louboutins designs are just too much. Too Kardashians if you know what I mean.

      • robbie April 13, 2012 at 16:25 #

completely agree. louboutins used to be so sexy and elegant but now they are worn by pretty much every trashy reality and porn star on the planet.

        • b April 13, 2012 at 17:02 #

No wonder he’s so enchanted with Blake

        • Loulou April 13, 2012 at 20:24 #

I think you’re right about Louboutins! It kills me please do not let it continue this way with birkins because they are on the same track!

          • MEME April 16, 2012 at 01:16 #

I’m afraid the Birkin bag has already come to that track… but I really don’t care who is wearin’ what… Housewives, Kardashians, Escorts(Kardashians), Groupies(Kardashians), WAGS etc… I don’t like to toss something aside because it’s mainstream or the flavor of the month…. if it looks good… can work well into my wardrobe… and I want it in my closet…. I’m gonna wear it….

    • roxy April 13, 2012 at 21:39 #

      +1

  7. AyishaaSassykuchiSassykuchi April 13, 2012 at 15:46 #

She looks really cute…..was their a memo that said every lady must wear sky high heels to this particular event?

  8. Ayishaa April 13, 2012 at 15:50 #

She looks really cute…..was there a memo that said every lady must wear sky high heels to the event?

  9. CT April 13, 2012 at 15:56 #

Loathe. Ms. Rooney and her fellow WAGS are so tacky from hair to shoes.

  10. vicky April 13, 2012 at 16:02 #

It looks like a WAG stampede!

  11. shap_half April 13, 2012 at 16:16 #

There’s something matronly and try-hard about this look to me. And I think it looks unflattering.

  12. Rebecca Z April 13, 2012 at 16:44 #

Dreadful. Talk about a dress that is too tight. Excuse my ignorance–what is a WAG?

    • Fashion Critic April 13, 2012 at 16:51 #

      similar to Basketball wives

      • Rebecca Z April 13, 2012 at 20:37 #

Thanks for this and everything else, FC, have a great weekend!

        • Fashion Critic April 13, 2012 at 20:57 #

          you too

    • MEME April 16, 2012 at 01:18 #

WAG is an acronymn of Wives & Girlfriends of professional athletes….

  13. alex April 13, 2012 at 17:15 #

    love love love!

i don’t think you should judge the person in the dress, surely just how they wear it and i think coleen looks fabulous.

  14. Nat39 April 13, 2012 at 17:23 #

It’s an adorable look but NOT ON HER, she is too womanly for it.

    • Carolina April 13, 2012 at 18:17 #

+1 agreed. The dress is juvenile, and she is not. I am a proponent of women wearing what looks good, not necessarily what might be ‘age appropriate’ – but this dress is not in a style I find appropriate for most/all women over about 14.

      • gurlygurl April 14, 2012 at 14:29 #

Agreed!! I’m not familiar with this lady but the first thing that struck me is this would be lovely on a young little poppet. Someone like Lilly Collins maybe or someone even younger! I do like the dress and the colors but babydoll styles should be left to the babydolls.

    • EmmaWoodhouse April 13, 2012 at 21:06 #

I totally agree. It’s a sweet dress but it looks so ridiculous on her body. Elle Fanning would look great in this.

  15. Jess April 13, 2012 at 17:32 #

I think overall she looks cute! Those shoes do look a tad heavy for this look

  16. Emma April 13, 2012 at 17:39 #

Would’ve preferred less chunky shoes, but love the dress. She looks gorgeous and chic

  17. Yeliz April 13, 2012 at 18:09 #

I don’t know… She looks nice but there is something that bothers me, I just don’t know what. Maybe the skirt, it looks kind of weird on her. Or her shoes, but that would’ve bother me on every WAG because everyone is wearing chunky heels.

  18. justme April 13, 2012 at 18:34 #

Was this a “bad hair extensions meet chunky platforms” convention?

    • Emi April 13, 2012 at 21:07 #

      Lol, my thought, exactly!!

  19. Ancika April 13, 2012 at 18:41 #

    Loathe. Because of the shoes.

  20. DivaDebbi (Beauty and Fashion Blog) April 13, 2012 at 20:08 #

    Loathe, head to toe.

  21. Emi April 13, 2012 at 21:06 #

Loathe it, so tacky. All the others girls, too.

  22. roxy April 13, 2012 at 21:44 #

The dress looks too tight and too short

  23. Tatiana April 13, 2012 at 22:07 #

I don’t mean to sound spiteful- but the girly sophistication of this silhouette is wasted on Colleen Rooney. She cannot carry off this dress and the terrible shoes don’t help.

  24. Claire April 14, 2012 at 01:36 #

Loathe – her look and all those following. Her figure is all wrong for this dress

  25. Sharon April 14, 2012 at 02:33 #

I love the dress, but it is a little youthful for Colleen. Looking at the pictures of all the other women attending the event, though, Colleen definitely wins the fashion contest. What a bunch of disastrous outfits!

  26. pipsqueak April 14, 2012 at 04:16 #

Was it National WAG Day? The women behind her almost all wore the “brick wedges” and fake hair. I don’t think she’s a stylish woman. She just dresses expensively. And look at her body … she’s the reason why I said that some athletes seem to have mommy issues rather than being superficial.

    • Fashion Critic April 14, 2012 at 08:36 #

LOL @ National WAG Day…that is SO funny.

  27. Jen April 14, 2012 at 04:18 #

Hooker shoes, a bodice that looks like sports wear, and a riduculously twee skirt. Nope. don’t like it.

  28. Fiona April 14, 2012 at 09:42 #

The dress would look cute on someone else – it is just so tight and short, she’s just too big for a little girl dress like this. The hair and shoes are too big, I realise she has a signature style but I don’t like it. The tragedy is I think she tried to go simple and stylish but didn’t quite end up there.

  29. Amy April 14, 2012 at 11:16 #

don’t know her but the dress is clearly meant for another body type. And what’s the deal about striper shoes? Is it a parade of huge platforms or what?

  30. Michael April 14, 2012 at 12:24 #

as being from liverpool and knowing what the female’s are like. not one scouse girl would be seen dead in a pair of shoes lower then these type. GO HIGH OR GO HOME LADIES!

  31. Charlie2000 April 14, 2012 at 16:05 #

This picture screams here comes the WAGS. The dress is cute and the shoes are nice, but I have to agree with the other comments that somehow Coleen makes both look cheap, tacky and trashy. Not sure why though.

  32. Molly April 14, 2012 at 17:16 #

LOATHE! Its just the tattooed eyebrows and clunky shoes and deep tan. She just needs to be softened or messed up a bit, its always so preened! Also really hating those heavily flicked-out skirts so popular on Desperate Scousewives and TOWIE.

  33. kiwi April 14, 2012 at 17:56 #

    Cute, shoes could be better

  34. cat April 14, 2012 at 22:19 #

This girl looks so old.. She’s 25, for God’s sake.. Way too much make up, tan and hideous shoes

  35. Ange April 15, 2012 at 08:15 #

Doesn’t matter what she wears she always looks tacky

  36. Sinead April 15, 2012 at 19:55 #

    Refined??

It was all going well until she put on those stripper shoes

  37. MEME April 16, 2012 at 01:20 #

Somethin’ about that dress I don’t like it on her… but it’s a cute dress…. if she worn black tights it would eliminate the chunkyness of the heels…. and LOL at those things in the background…. that is a comical picture….

  38. Valeria April 16, 2012 at 08:40 #

I have no idea who all these women are but it looks to me like stripper parade. Awful, cheap and tasteless
