Many of you have Claire Danes’ red carpet style down as safe and dare I say boring, but she spiced things up on the red carpet last night at the HBO premiere for ‘Girls’ in New York City last night.
The actress is the first to wear a look from the Preen Fall 2012 collection.
Her long-sleeve dress has a lot going on for the usually reserved star.
The patchwork dress, with a black and gold square-print, black velvet and green asymmetrical panels plus pleating at the waist with a self-tie belt, was teamed with black peep-toes and a black clutch.
I think she carries the look off well. It’s good to see her daring to wear such a bold look.
Claire’s hair and makeup were kept simple and neutral.

i really would like to like her new bold look, but i dont on this one
I don’t like the patchwork and the sleeves are way too big. On the other hand, I like the way she kept the styling as simple as possible. Overall I think she’s working it.
I don’t care for this at all. It makes her look really wide in the thighs and her legs really short.
I love it. And she made the right choice by keeping the accessories black to make the dress stand on its own. I think she has such a gorgeous figure…
Don’t like it at all. So many details in the dress, we barely can’t see Claire’s body in it.
She looks like the dress is wearing her…not her wearing a fabulous dress. I don’t like this look on her, she doesn’t seem bold enough to pull it off!

I just can’t stand these fall looks at the beginning of April. Too heavy!! I admire the branching out effort here, but this is not Claire’s best look. Fits her well, but i prefer her in looks with less going on – chic and straightforward.
I don’t like it. It makes her look strange and mis-shapen and to me the patchwork is a bit ugly.
For me, this would be a bold look if she wore daring accessories. To me, she is just wearing a printed dress. But she looks amazing and poised. Great pick by her stylist and good follow through by Claire. BDOTW?
I don’t much like the dress itself, and I don’t think it is very flattering on her. She is so long-waisted she really needs to be careful with clothes that emphasize it even more. She just appears to be sagging toward the floor–maybe the dress is too big.

That’s an ugly dress.
I would´ve liked it more, had the gold square-print started higher um, maybe even above the waist. Claire has relatively long upper body compared to her legs, and this dress only makes the proportions worse.

I absolutely love the dress, however with Claire’s body proportions, this dress should have been shortened to just above her knee to balance out her long torso.

It could have worked maybe with better shoes but I am not liking it. It’s not coming to ‘life’ on Claire.
this looks terrible. it’s too much fabric. it doesn’t fit well. the colors don’t look good on Claire. it’s too long. it’s too gloomy. the lines seem distorted. peep-toe shoes don’t go with such a heavy, autumn dress (though I assume the fabric itself is light). I honestly can’t see what good is about this look.

That dress is hideous!!! Why on earth is she wearing it? Or better yet, why was it even designed???
The dress isn’t too great to begin with and it’s completely wrong for her shape. Maybe a better fit and a couple of inches off the hem would have helped but I still wouldn’t pick this for her.
I usually love Claire’s looks. Unfortunately this is no good for me. Too big/long and just too all around distracting.
