Yesterday I attended the McQ Alexander McQueen press preview in London.
Much like the mainline collection, the press preview consisted of both runway and commercial pieces.
Before the Fall 2012 presentation the McQ customer would not have shopped at Alexander McQueen and vice versa, so the aim of this current McQ collection is to bring McQ and Alexander McQueen closer together.
McQ will be the daywear to Alexander McQueen’s special-occasion pieces.
On display were the adorable colourful tutu dresses which are even more impressive up close with velvet, tulle and silk accented floral details.
I also love the moss-green dresses, skirts and coats with the textured embroidered details.
Cable-knit dresses, python bags, over-the-knee lace-up boots, leather opera gloves, leather jackets, skull-mofit sweaters, bird-print dresses and shorts plus military coats were on display.
Some of the commercial pieces were so close to the runway looks that the only way I could spot the difference was by touching the pieces, as slightly lighter fabrics are used for the commercial looks.
One of the first things I always ask PRs is who’s been requesting and who are they reaching out to. I don’t want to jinx anything so I won’t spill, but one person from my wish list has requested. Yay.
Those of you dying to get your hands on McQ will be delighted to know that a new stand-alone store will be opening on Dover Street sometime in July, with 4 storeys and 273 square metres of retail space offering womenswear, menswear and accessories.
