Chloe Moretz dressed to impress whilst taking to the red carpet for the Metropolitan Opera Gala Premiere of Jules Massenet’s ‘Manon’ in New York City last night.
As you know I haven’t been the greatest fan of Chloe’s red-carpet looks which are often too mature, nor have I been a fan of her over pouting, but she nailed this look.
Her blue YSL tiered gown with a black velvet bow was event appropriate without feeling too mature and her YSL clutch and Trib Too pumps were complementary.
The only thing I would change about this look is the choker. She didn’t need it.

I still feel like this is too mature.
She’s like 15? This look is heavy and tortured.
Agreed. This is too much dress by far, and the color is too somber for her coloring. She absolutely cannot carry off this ‘goth’-ish look
+1!
agree
+1
I agree too. This isn’t a good look at all.
+1 completely. It’s way too old for her and it’s not even a good look to start with!
+7!
Agreed!
I agree with you, she’s 15! Come on… she’s dressed like a mature woman and that hairstyle doesn’t flatter her.
Camilla Belle once wore a similar dress in white, doesn’t she?
Not sure why but I don’t like this look.
Yes she did.
Also for a metropolitan opera opening. I feel that most of the gowns from YSL on the red carpet lately are all one in the same
She looks contrieved. The outfit on Yao Chen in previous post would be perfect for Chloe.
i love the choker!
I actually like the choker, too! I think it makes the look more youthful and personal.
i thought it was jessica stam at first. this look is far too much for her, she looks like she is about to dance at the moulin rouge.
I like it. But, the choker kinda made her look too mature. Leave the choker, add a colorful accessories, and we’ll get a great, young, and fresh look from her.
It’s official. I hate all chokers!
I don’t like it.
maybe it’s the pose too, but i’m really blaming the choker for ruining the outfit :/
love the makeup
I can’t stand these very young actresses dressed as “femme fatale”…I is wrong in so many ways, unnatural. They end up looking like midgets.
Honestly, I’d love it on anybody else, who is older. Apart from the shoes, I think it’s a great outfit. But on Chloe Moretz it just feels…wrong.
I kinda like the outfit and I think the choker is the best thing about it
I actually like this look including the choker. It added the drama to her dress.
Kinda fun
It is the opera afterall. LOL
Now if this chocker was presented at the oscars, emmys, BAFTA and any other major red carpet function..then NO. But here at the Opera? I see why not.
I thought we all learned from Kristen Wiig’s mistake that fashion consumers are not ready for the choker comeback.
Am I the only one who is a little shocked that this look is considered age appropriate for a young girl of 15? Besides, the hair and makeup are too severe and there never really is an appropriate occasion for a choker- I’ve never seen a choker that doesn’t instantly cheapen a look. This is very much a miss for me, I am afraid.
I agree about the choker, she doesn’t need it. I’m not averse to chokers in general, but if your neck is on the shorter side as Chloe’s is, you need a longer necklace (if any) to lengthen your neck. Look at the difference on how the choker wears between Emmy Rossum (at this same event) and Chloe as an example.
For this dress though, no necklace would have been ideal.
I absolutely adored this dress on Camilla Belle a few years ago…but this one does nothing for me!
I like the whole look and I don’t mind the chocker at all – It gives the look a special flavor – This is a very beautiful girl
When did the choker become a trend? I have yet to see any celeb pull it off on the red carpet.
I really like the dress, but would rather see it on an older, taller woman. It seems to overpower Chloe.
I’m going to disagree with the majority on this one – I think this is the best Chloe has looked. I prefer her hair back for sure and I think the dress actually really suits her.
no. to much. back to school girl!
Still too aging for her imo…
When is a choker ever acceptable? They went out with the 90′s and even then I hated them.
Another choker??? I don’t like it on Chloe Moretz, either. Well, I find this look a bit weird on her and the reason is probably what’s going on from the shoulders up. I’m not that fond of such a severe hairstyle on her, plus I think she should have traded the choker for a pair of earrings, because this feels so plain. The dress and shoes are nice, though.
