Diane Kruger In Jason Wu – St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort and Residences Grand Opening

Diane Kruger was in Miami Beach, Florida, this weekend to celebrate the grand opening of the St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort and Residences.

The actress wore a Jason Wu Fall 2012 cape dress.

It comes as no surprise that Diane would not only rock this tricky piece, but wear it her way.

The German beauty opted to wear the black embellished piece without tights or pants to make the look more daring.

Black Gucci sandals with a gold ankle strap complemented the cape, whilst a red clutch complemented her lip colour and a chic top-knot provided a feminine touch to her sexy military look.

Do you love that Diane wore this cape on its own, or does it feel incomplete without the runway pants?

This is a very tricky look but she totally rocks it!I’m in love with this gal’s style

I think she looks top heavy without something on the lower half to balance the effect. The model in the picture looks elegant and sophisticated, which, I don’t think Diane does. The strappy shoes do not help as they forshorten the appearance of her legs. Altogether, a lovely outfit worn incorrectly – in my opinion!

With the pants, wearing the cape only just looks like she forgot to take off her coat.. The cake is amazing though

No, just please bring diane back to her flawless phase. Today, she is kinda miss to me.

I believe Diane Kruger looks fantastic in the Jason Wu design without the runway pants. Certainly there are events where Diane my choose to wear the full ensemble. This occasion was just not one of those events. Again, The Lady and the outfit look magnificent, classy.

Agree completely. Also, I don’t think many others could make this work, but she does it with ease.

I do love this look and Diane’s take on it… The only small thing bothering me is that it looks more cape/coat-outer wear than cape/dress

Wow! I love it – detailing of this cape is heavy but she pulls it off nicely and with confidence – thank god for her for wearing something other than a cocktail dress or a crazy gaga costume on the red carpet

    Definitely missing the pants.

    • EmmaWoodhouse March 19, 2012 at 20:10 #

Me too. At least SOME pants! She would have looked much better in opinion!

I’m not sure it’s a great cape, which is why I don’t think this look is so great. I like the clutch. Like some others have shared, A belt might have helped. Maybe boots. Something. It just looks like a big to ill-fitting, overly-adorned shirt.

Even before I looked to the model pic, I thought “she looks like somebody who forgot to put her pants on.” I think it is not only the design of the cap (although that is definitely true, the way it cuts up on the sides), but also her pose, with the clutch clutched in front and her feet turned in…. they all make you notice how completely bare her bottom half is. I do like the bare arms – much better without the long gloves!

    Really don’t like this.

  12. christine March 19, 2012 at 18:13 #

love it! i think it would look to dark for spring in miami if she wore the leather pants or boots.

I love the way she looks from head to toe. Great hairstyle, great make up and I love the way she decided to wear the cape. Basically she can do whatever she wants, she’s always perfect or almost perfect.

  14. Carolina March 19, 2012 at 16:59 #

I think her look is a combination of half-naked and altogether too severe. Not a fan at all.

  15. Christine March 19, 2012 at 15:56 #

I love the cape dress with and without the pants.

  16. CTgirl March 19, 2012 at 15:41 #

    Total miss for me.

I think the hair is too severe, but in the runway it works.

i think if anyone could rock this whole look it would be Diane so im a little disappointed but she still looks cool.

  19. roxana March 19, 2012 at 15:09 #

    awesome as always!

I don’t like this look. I don’t like her bun and I think the cape looks to matadorish. It looks unbalanced and top heavy.

  21. TeaAtTwo March 19, 2012 at 14:56 #

I like it, it feels a bit daring yet chic.

  22. fromchi-town March 19, 2012 at 14:47 #

I am not sure about this one. I am not liking it too much !

  23. Rebecca Z March 19, 2012 at 14:46 #

Interesting attempt, but it doesn’t work for me. Too boxy, agree that her legs look too bare for how covered up she is on the top. And I am not a fan of the super tight bun on her (or on just about anyone).

  24. Tati M March 19, 2012 at 14:44 #

    I love it

  25. Hannah March 19, 2012 at 14:36 #

I’m really undecided about this. I feel like it is almost too cape like, rather than short, to wear as a dress. A belt maybe would have helped, or maybe boots. I prefer the runway look, but she maybe would have been to short for the ook, the cape is a bit too long on her to me.

    • Errun March 19, 2012 at 14:39 #

yeah! boots or belt could have helped!!

  26. Scott March 19, 2012 at 14:36 #

The cape dress without pants has more impact, love the styling.

  27. fashionawesome March 19, 2012 at 14:29 #

Wow…I love it…so different and fresh

  28. Anna March 19, 2012 at 14:15 #

She looks a bit like an exhibitionist. A tremendously fashionable one, but an exhibitionist nonetheless.

  29. Luis March 19, 2012 at 14:08 #

BDOTW winner. This woman can’t do wrong.

  30. Errun March 19, 2012 at 14:06 #

Since I haven’t seen the back of the dress, I cannot comment whether she should wear it without pants or not. I hope there is no slit at the back. Also, I wish she wore this dress with boots or something..her lower half looks quite under-dressed but then it’s just my opinion!
