Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge was at the Dulwich Picture Gallery in London today with the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall who were introducing Catherine to the work of The Prince’s Foundation for Children and The Arts.
The Duchess wore an Orla Kiely grey knee-length dress with a pleated skirt.
Her dress, which is accented with a belt tied to the waist, also has a black floral embroidered detailing around the neckline which is complemented by black pumps and a black clutch.
I must admit I love this look, which is shocking for me as I don’t like the colour grey.
Catherine has gone for yet another short dress, which is surprising considering she received so much flak for her short skirt last week.
It just goes to show that she doesn’t give a damn what people say about what she wears – good on her.
This is the second time Catherine has worn a look by Orla Kiely.

Adorable!

Love this look.
+1. Adorbs.
So cute.
Can’t believe I’m saying this – I actually quite like this!
Shocking no?
I like it too.
I almost do.
As I like gray (a softer alternative to black), I didn’t have as high a hurdle to jump toward liking this look. Perhaps she’s paid enough sartorial dues that she can relax a bit. Very nice.
She looks so chic! I wish I had her figure and hair!
LOVE THIS!!!
I am not a fan of grey – but I really like this. I think this is one of the first times that I have actually liked something that she has worn. There is something very cheerful about her first pic
She looks amazing, she always does. I would have thought you would take this as a boring look, but I was mistaken!
I agree! She looks absolutely adorable and I’m glad everyone is liking it. She is so cute, classy, and appropriate. I don’t think the skirt is too short and I am very picky about these things!
I love this look too!
Speaking as someone who is ultra-conservative about the propriety of dress for “official” women, I think the length is just fine — youthful and chic, while still being classy.
Love.
Seriously, I fail to see how either this or her previous outfit could be considered too short. She looks conservatively beautiful as always.
Agreed. It is not “short” by any means. Very fitting for royalty, I would think.
When she was sitting, you could see right up her skirt. Also, she couldnt bend over and when she got out of the car, we saw her entire thigh. That is a major no no for a royal, and its much worse when you are with the Queen herself!
I agree! I can’t believe we’re still like ‘Royalty should never show their knees’. I love Kate’s classy style.
The dress is very chic and pretty! One of her best looks this year.
This is my favourite look from her so far.
Im glad that she seems to finally have found a dress that gives her shape, and this is cute, but her fear of color is killing me. Im starting to wonder if she counts her engagement ring as her pop of color!
I agree with everything you’ve said. In her previous looks she looks flat(like the dress is hanging on her) and it wasn’t always flattering. This shape is perfect for her. Anyway she definitely needs to wear more color
I love the detailing around the neck/top of the dress. She looks wonderful! I don’t know how that skirt could be considered short…
If she wore these outfits knee-length or below the knee as her critics would like than I think it would be terribly ageing. I’m glad she got out of the military theme but I hope she isn’t going to stick with a limited colour palette.
i love grey and love love love this dress even more!
love this one:)
It is a darling dress and looks very chic on her. It is more youthful than her usual looks, the pleated skirt is very flattering to her figure and the length is perfect. And personally, I love grey.
I love this look! I actually like Catherine more than Princess Di. Maybe because she’s my generation (I’m 33). Also, as I age, I increasingly identify with women that seem to possess strength and confidence instead of insecurity and neediness.
love it,and i wld wear that dress my self
She looks great, the dress is so cute. FC, I used to receive an email when somebody replied to one of my comments, but now it doesn’t happen anymore, is it ok or just a problem of mine?
I don’t know what has happened…I will look into it
Just saw this comment–I have the same issue. It’s not too big a deal but I did enjoy seeing replies; if you can fix it easily that’s great but I know how much effort you put into this wonderful site so it’s no biggie.
I’ve noticed it too. I always enjoyed getting the emails too. I tried checking the “Notify me of followup comments via e-mail” box when I posted comments, but I got emails for every new comment, not just replies to mine. No big deal, as EmmaWoodhouse said, but funny as I was just thinking about that today and how it was too bad!
This is better than her BDOTW look last week.
So cute but still classy. I tried to find this dress on the orla kiely but couldn’t find it there
She looks great! I think the skirt is only a couple of inches longer than the dress last week and this makes all the difference. Also she’s not scared to wear flippy skirts that *could* blow up either!
I’d like the dress even without the black embellishment. I wish she would wear those brooches again for a little touch of tradition and sparkle.
I want that dress, very chic.
OMG Someone get The Queen a wet cloth, she’s passed out at the sight of Princess Kate’s knees!
She looks great in these casual dresses, but I think her wardrobe’s colour palette is pretty boring.
Sounds like the Duchess is about to win her second in a row BDOTW. I think she looks great.
