After promoting her new TV show, ‘Fashion Star’, in New York City the past few days, Nicole Richie attended a party with co-host Elle Macpherson to celebrate the show at Macy’s in Herald Square.
She once again opted for British designer Julien Macdonald; donning a look from his Spring 2012 collection.
Nicole is ‘doing a Ricci’ in that the petite designer looks statuesque in her bright lemon gown which is accented with a silver belt.
Her halter gown with asymmetrical layers could’ve overwhelmed her, but she carries off the look with great aplomb.
Nicole does favour the cat-eyes for the red carpet, but on this occasion she opted for a fresher, more neutral look makeup wise.
The most surprising thing about Nicole’s look is that she opted for a gold Jimmy Choo clutch, instead of one from her own House of Harlow 1960 collection.
I think this look deserves a spot in the BDOTW poll alongside Miss Lawrence.
Do you agree?

I like everything about the dress except the fabric. It puts me off and keeps me from saying this one’s bdotw worthy.
No from me. The fabric looks surprisingly cheap. The gold clutch and the silver belt are nice separately but don’t work together. And her hair is awful.
+1
+1 this dress looks super cheap.
I really dislike that fabric and that peplum-esque ruffles.
+1, it looks horrible below the waist. The belt is a distraction, too.
+100
no from me too, don’t like the dress or coloure, and accesories are off too
I stand alone
I really like this look
I agree with the earlier posters. Something about the fabric of this dress turns it into a cheap look. Her make up is not bad, but I dislike the nude lip. I felt she needed a brighter lip colour.
Okay she does put the model to shame. The model has no bust and that panel just hanging there is weird.
For me it’s a BDOTW! Stunning!
Naturally, I adore the colour.
The problem though, is how the dress completely overwhelms her – she looks like a girl playing with her mommy’s clothes.
Oh, and the hair is absolutely dreadful.
The dress is okay but my issue is her hair. It looks dry. The blond shade is not working on her.
Not along just yet – I quite like it. I think it’s perfect for her frame compared to someone much taller like the model on the runway and I love the colour.
On a side note though: Did you see Elle’s heels? Wow!
*alone
Whoops!
I like this dress in theory but the execution is poor.
Nicole’s been looking a little…off…to me from the neck up. She should do something about that.
You noticed that, too? I usually like her hair and makeup, but lately her hair is looking parched and her makeup says she might need a Calgon bath to take her away for a bit.
Yes, it does look much better on her than the model (don’t they do fittings at the McDonald house?), but the hair and makeup is not too good. Hair looks kinda fried.
Beautiful !
She looks nice here, I love this color on her. Not a BDOTW imo. SHe fills out the bodice much better than the manly model, I cant stand how flat-chested androgyny is taking over the runways, bring back the curves please!
I lke it and think Nicole does it much more justice. I usually love her hair and makeup. Not here.
I have never understood why she wears this color, it clashes with her hair and skin, if it was a different shade it could have been a wow moment.
I dont like the cluth with it. And the dress itself is not cute–the color is too bright and the shape looks like curtains
I really like this dress, cut, fabric and all. I can’t believe it’s the same one the runway model is wearing though- ouch! It looks so bad on the model, but light and pretty on her.
Sorry FC, I will have to disagree with you on this one. I think she looks horrible, the colour does not suit her, her hair looks to be bleached and burnt, the make up washes her out…
I think she looks pretty too.
It’s a NO for me. I might have gotten on board except for the very odd napkin-like appendages hanging from the waistline — which look ok on the model but totally overwhelm Nicole’s small frame — and the rather cheap look of the fabric. Also, the hair is TERRIBLE.
It’s a NO for me… She looks short, tired, and wrestled in that dress.
My BDOTW are (in all since award season too):
Leven Rambin at HG World (classic sexy simplicity), Elizabeth Banks at HG London (delicious color), Jenn Lawrence at HG World (fun and directional and proves her star quality), Michelle Williams at press conference (movie star chic)
This looks falls flat in comparison
