The day after the Alexander McQueen Fall 2012 presentation, I was lucky enough to see the collection up close at the resee in Paris. I went camera clicking crazy so make sure you check out all the pictures below.

Seeing the pieces up close makes the collection even more special, especially when I was told the time it takes to bring a Sarah Burton design to life – several weeks in some cases. They are also embroidered by hand.

I was most impressed with the gowns, as you can imagine. The shaved, cut organza is hand-massaged into shape, which helped make the looks pulsate on the runway.

Take a look at how amazing the blossoms are up close. Not until I attended the resee did I know that they were metal and enamel embroideries shaped into blossoms.

Unlike previous seasons, many of the runway pieces – including the metal waistbands – are going to go into production, but expect a hefty price tag.

Whilst I was at the resee I saw the lookbook being shot, which features the commercial pieces from the Fall 2012 collection.

I’m already lusting after the fuchsia pink coat, which will brighten up a cold winter’s day, and seeing that multi-coloured gown on the red carpet would make my day.

Apart from the skull-clasp clutches, McQueen hasn’t really had an ‘IT’ bag, so for Fall 2012 we should expect to see the ‘Heroine’ on the arm of many celebrities.

The sleek tote will come in several sizes, shapes, textures and colours: one incorporates the laser cut pony skin on leather that we saw in the runway show.

The skull-clasp clutches will feature the blossoms, Mongolian fur, laser cut pony skin and the dandelions from the show.

I would die for the blossom clutch.

The one thing we didn’t see on the runway was the bottom of the heel-less shoes the models were wearing.

Each Alexander McQueen Fall 2012 shoe has a horse shoe sole. The models who stormed the runway in these heels said that they were the most comfortable McQueen shoes they even walked in.
