Dakota Fanning joined Rose Byrne on the red carpet at Cosmopolitan’s Fun Fearless Men and Women Of 2012 in New York City last night.
She wore a Miu Miu Spring 2012 look.
The actress arrived wearing a red stole over her pearl blue top and skirt.
Once inside she removed the stole and for the first time since this collection was presented, I actually realised how much it added to the overall look.
On the red carpet her look felt plain in comparison.
An embellished Miu Miu clutch, a black headband and Prada nude patent Mary Janes accessorized her look.
Black wing-tip eyeliner and a light pink lip colour provided the finishing touches.
Which look do you prefer?
Arrival or red carpet?

I love the stole, so cute! But overall this is a bad look for her because it washes her out a lot. Between the boring blond hair and ultra pale skin and nude pumps, I don’t like the ice blue dress
I don’t like the stole and the dress is okay. this is kinda boring.
WITH stole without a doubt. The skirt&top combo looks classy with it and boring without it. I am baffled by her poor choice of shoes.
+1 all the way!
+2 absolutely
+3 joining the chorus
+4 and BDOTW contender for the “Red-Riding Hood” look without looking too costumy.
Meeeeeeeeh
With the stole absolutely! But man these Fanning girls have the WORST taste in shoes!!!!
It reminded me of the red riding hood.
Me too, but I still liked it!
+1 to Red Riding Hood! I’m not loving it. The dress is a bit too shiny and a meh color against her skintone, whereas the stole is too jarring. The shoes are boring.
She should have added Prada flame sandals to inject some interest.
Great idea; those would have been perfect!
The stole is a bit Little-Red-Riding-Hood-on-the-way-to-grandma’s-house, but adding some funky footwear like those Pradas would have really brought the whole look together. Good call!
Genius idea!!
I wanted to like this, but I just can’t. The stole looks too stiff, but when she takes it off it’s like she’s awash in a sea of pale. Plus, the extreme eyeliner was really jarring in the up close pictures.
She looks pretty in both! However, the heavy eyelines needs to go!
Wow. I’m speechless. Bdotw
+1
I agree! I don’t understand these “boring” comments because I think she looks age appropriate but still very fashionable. The eyeliner is a bit much but can be forgiven. The dress is gorgeous!
I think this is BDOTW worthy as well.
Both of them are bad.
With the stole she makes me think of a modern interpretation of snow white. love the outfit with and without it!
Definitely with the stole. It’s an eyecatcher and rescues her from looking too washed out.
With the stole, no question about it. The shoes are unimaginative though. She looks like a young Madonna in the first picture with the eyeliner…
She’s cute and the colors look great with her pale skin. However, the Christmas tree skirt around her neck has got to go, more specifically the bow.
The first picture I saw from Dakota´s outfit was the one with the stole and I got lost for it. Then, later on when I saw the pics without it I thought that her outfit had nothing interesting besides it. So she should have kept the stole on.
I adore the first look, leaving out those boring nude pumps. The stole brings this look to the next level, as well as prevents her from being washed out. When she takes off the stole, her pale skin mixed with the nude pumps and the pearly dress makes her look like a ghost.
She should have definitely left the stole on, it looks outstanding with it. It’s just blah without.
Definitely with the stole!!
I love the arrival look. The color contrast was playful and she needed that pop of red. In that photo, she looked a bit like a girl from a French New Wave movie. US celebrities have the hardest time on the blog, because we know so much about them or their work. The foreign actresses get the woos and ahhs and love all the time, though I suspect half of them aren’t half the talent that Dakota is. (Sigh) … I think she looked adorable.
so uglyyyyy!
She looks amazing with and without the stole. Love it.
what does it mean when someone does a + 1 or 2 or 3?
they agree with that the person has said.
it’s actually really nice to see her with visible eye makeup on for once. i like the look a lot, just wish she had accessorized or something because without the stole its definitely missing something
I actually like this look and this simple but cheerful dress.
The arrival look with the stole at first seemed a bit too much for me, but seeing the red carpet look, I prefer it with the stole. Without it, it’s too plain.
