Tilda Swinton joined Jessica Alba in the front row for the Lanvin Fall 2012 presentation on Friday evening during Paris Fashion Week.
Tilda looked regal in a long-sleeved Lanvin maroon dress with deep burgundy panel down one side.
The beautifully draped dress was cinched with a thin black grosgrain belt.
While this colour looks beautiful with Tilda’s fair skin, I’m a bit perplexed by her chunky shoe choice.
When you’re Tilda Swinton, you can get away with a lot, fashion-wise, but those shoes are just awful.

This is just plain BAD from head to toe – from the shapeless gloomy sack and awful sandals to her masculine stance and appearance. Ugly, sad, unflattering.
A veyr rare Tilda miss. The hair looks lmost greasy & the shoes are frankly high heeled jesus sandals.
This is especially a pity when almost any shoes would have worked and her boyfriend looks so dapper, especially the matching bow tie.
…her androgynous persona clashes with the dowdy grandma outfit producing a very unpleasant effect.
+1
I don’t mind the shoes. She’s hot!
The entire look is awful, unflattering, uninspiring, etc. etc.
I think a pair of different shoes would have made this dress look better on her.
It’s very Tilda but she’s not really working it here for me.
Looks like she is about to climb into her coffin for the final journey. Deathly pale and the dress is way too heavy.
Oh my goodness the closeup is just too scary.
That’s a lovely dress – I like a lot – toally agree about the shoes
I’m with the “don’t like the dress” group, and the shoes are a miss too. The dress looks like something Julianne Moore would wear and I’m not a fan of her choices.
Are her eyes for real?
I agree about the shoes – had she worn a more delicate pair, the whole look would have been great.
