Jil Sander Fall 2012

After seven years, Raf Simons presented his last collection for Jil Sander.

Those expecting an all-black send-off would’ve been surprised to see a surprisingly spring-like collection with pastel pinks making up the majority of the collection alongside ecru, black, red and navy.

The theme was everyday woman.

Models with barely-there makeup and their hair pulled back into a simple ponytail made their way around six floral arrangements on the runway, wearing pink, coral or beige pastel robe coats.

Under their coats, they wore lingerie-like dresses with delicately knitted tops and chiffon skirts.

Classically refined black dresses, which were in total contrast to the opening pastel shades, closed the show.

Raf’s send-off was very emotional. Anna Dello Russo and Anna Wintour led the standing ovation for the designer, who returned to the runway after taking his initial bow this time in floods of tears.

There was barely a dry eye in the house.

Key accessories included lust worthy tri-colour slingbacks, clutches and totes.

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Tilda Swinton, Amber Heard, Cate Blanchett, Felicity Jones, Diane Kruger and Andrea Riseborough

I adore this collection, what a way to go!
The collection is entirely my personal style, femenine but simple, so I adore it! I really can’t imagine it on the red carpet, simply because it looked so beautiful and delicate on the models on the runway, so I hope hat this translates well in real life.
I really hope to see Rachel McAdamsin this colleciton because I feel liek she is femenie and subtle enough to pull it off, as well as those who you listed.

FC, I was reading this Washington Post article right after I read your’s and noticed that the author essentially copied, pasted, and switched a few words around from parts of your post! Very curious, indeed.

He definitely went out on a high, this collection (as his past outings were) is one of my favourites of the season. I hope somebody hires or backs him really soon.

I’m not usually a fan of the brand but it feels so clean and fresh here. Sweet story about his final send off :’)

I love Raf Simons and am sad to see him leave Jil Sander. This is a beautiful collection, I wonder how Jil will do on her return, hopefully she will meet or exceed his standard……sigh….
