Carolina Herrera wanted to dress only one star for the 2012 Oscars, held in Hollywood this evening.
Tina Fey was this lucky actress, wearing a custom Carolina Herrera midnight blue strapless gown with a chic peplum detail.
Every time we see Tina hit the red carpet, she keeps getting better and better, and this is no exception.
My favourite part of the entire ensemble is her voluminous up-do. Such a glamorous look is perfect for the fancy occasion.
A black satin Roger Vivier Short Night tube clutch and Bulgari jewels completed her look.

Safe but a nice choice for her. The hair and earrings are great.
The dress was Navy???… why did it photograph black???…
yes navy with a black band
on my tv it looked purple, in fact nina garcia described it as purple!
On my tv it definitely looked black! And everyone commenting live were saying that it was black…
Really odd…
However, now that it know it’s navy, I like it even more (never been much a fan of black on the red carpet)!
meh! gorgeous earrings though.
Dark blue is really her color. She looks so very pretty.
I agree.
Yeah, “safe” is the right word. She should pick Oscar de la Renta for this event.
I love this dress. It looked like eggplant on TV but navy here. Either way, it gave Tina a very flattering profile. I love her updo also.
This dress is like a chameleon.. Blue in this picture, a dark plum colour on tv on the red carpet and black when Tina presented awards
Love this!
There’s a little too much pep in that peplum. Tina never does it for me.
Agree. She looked pregnant from the side. And her prom hair was on my nerves!
You’re right, it is a bit too voluminous. The bodice fits her well but I’m not wowed. Nice earrings.
I loved Tina in this look! I’m also thrilled that she’s getting away from so much black on the red carpet.
The dress fits her very well and the colour is great on her skintone. I like the silhouette it makes and she is defs getting better!
This is definitely one of Tinas better looks for me. The color is amazing and those earring against her eyes and hair is divine.
Tina Fey is so very, very drab in her styling, always. She is lucky that we all fell in love with her because of how intelligent and hilarious she is, and that we will keep loving her despite looks like these which scream ‘suburban mom got an invite to the Oscars’. Sorry for the vulgar stereotyping. I have nothing against suburban moms, I was just trying to evoke a certain image.
my favorite tina fey look ever
+1
I do not hate it but for me it seems like she used the band to tie a pillow that forms the peplum.
I love Tina, and while I am never blown away by her fashion you can always count on her class. She did have my favorite jewels of the night, which was a pleasant surprise. Those earrings are so pretty, I love their color and the fact that they don’t perfectly match the dress.
Hmmm. Great silhouette but everything else is quite boring looking.
No thanks. She looks bad even if it was custom made.
I loved this on the red carpet, but knowing that it is midnight blue makes me love it even more! (It looked black on TV.) Gorgeous.
She looks lovely, safe, but lovely. And the earrings and updo were fabulous touches to this somewhat tame look.
Ditto.
I have never liked a single Carolina Herrera dress – always too safe, boring and uncreative. Nothing to celebrate about with this dress. The dress fabric is heavy and the structure adds bulk rather than flatters. So predictable and bleh
Nice look, but nothing to get excited about, in my opinion. I do love her earrings, though.
