After disappointing on the red carpet at the 2012 Oscars, Shailene Woodley did a complete 180 at the 2012 Vanity Fair Oscar party.
The young actress wore a Proenza Schouler Spring 2012 floral embroidered dress.
Her open-back, belt free, dress was teamed with lime green Diane von Furstenberg pumps.
Just imagine how amazing this would’ve been as a gown for the main event.
This was missed opportunity.
Was this a downgrade or upgrade from the Valentino gown?

i simply adore this look!she looks amazing!
I usually love all of her looks, even this one, but I think she dresses so ‘old’ for her young age. I wish she would wear things that are more fun and young.
i think the problem is she doesnt know how to dress age appropriately for the mature A-list crowd and she wants to be taken seriously so she just goes for mature. if you look up what she wears for teen events its like night and day
I love Shailene’s style including her Valentino gown. I think she looked amazing in both dresses!
I can’t believe it, but I’m actually liking a Proenza Schouler outfit.
I know! This makes twice in one week that I’ve liked Proenza Schouler after years of nose wrinkling. What is happening?
I dislike both, to be honest. I mean, the cut and the fit actually looks good on her. But I don’t like the embroiderings…
i actually really like both of them!
I like Valentino, and I like this one too. If I have to choose, this one will win. But again, love her tonight.
I actually LOVE this look! She looks adorable and it’s SO much more age appropriate compared to her red carpet dress!
Dhruvi
I much prefer this to the Valentino, although a sa gown I feel it may have been too old and wlalpapery. She still looks a tad too old for her age here. I also am not ahuge fan of the shoes, obviously they win over nude or black, but sandals or pink or blue pumsp will have made the look more lively & young.
Super-cute! I am glad she turned it around for this event! Her look at the Oscars was disappointing…:(
What the what?
This color is not her color. She wears too much yellowy and green shades which are just wrong on her skin tone.
I prefer the Valentino. This print is just too jarring.
I adore this look! I don’t think it needs to be made into a gown. This might’ve been a black-tie occasion, but a gown with this print would look too busy. I actually thought Malin looked old, wearing that dress-turned-gown. Either dress is the versatile kind that could go shorter or longer. Shaileen looked lovely. I love the yellow pumps.
Sorry … I always hit the “submit” button too soon. I meant to say “Neither dress is the versatile kind…”
She is dressing far too old.
Th dress is nice but not for the red carpet- sorry the carpet is a place for full gowns for me.
This may not be Oscar appropriate, but I still would have preferred it to the Valentino, which was such a snooze.
I feel like Shailene had three great options for the Indie Spirits and nothing that was appropriate for the actual Oscars.
Love it!
Looks too “resort” for the event. Although, I will give her props for allowing the dress to be the focal point of the ensemble and forgoing extraneous accessories. Darker green shoes would have worked better with her skin tone too.
This doesn’t look dressy enough for the party.
definitely prefer this to the ill-fitted Valentino but i wish she had worn the belt and black shoes like on the runway.
An upgrade.
This is a cute dress, but for some reason, I can’t like the pumps, despite them matching the dress. But I prefer her Oscar red carpet look, I think she looked great!
