Rooney Mara’s signature red carpet look came full circle tonight at the 2012 Oscars, held in LA.
You may remember Rooney’s first big red carpet moment at the world premiere of ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ in London, was a structured, white Givenchy Couture gown.
Countless premieres and red carpet appearances later, Rooney celebrates her ‘Best Actress’ nominee in another structured, white Givenchy Couture gown this time from the Spring 2009 collection.
It was widely guessed that Rooney would don Givenchy Couture for her big night, particularly in white or black, and she didn’t let us down.
While it may not be a surprise, Rooney still looks stunning.
You have to give the young actress credit for staying true to her signature style, and doing it so well.
Blunt bangs, Fred Leighton jewels and a red lippie finish the look.

The dress makes her look really short. I think the fishtail at the end of the gown needs to be lower as it cuts off her legs at the worst possible spot

Ditto! Was expecting more so I was disappointed. This dress definitely looks like a nightgown on her and a poorly fitted one at that.
She looks really nice. It’s weird that she can basically wear the same thing over and over again, but still doesn’t bore me.

Kelly Osbourne nearly collapsed when she saw Rooney Mara in something other than black. Just goes to show how little she knows about red carpet fashion…
while I love Givenchy and Rooney’s style, this dress on the bodice is so ill fitting. It makes her breasts look like they are sagging to her hips.
The runway version, however, ahhh-mazing
LOL. Yeah the boob area is pretty awful. I much prefer her first Givenchy gown look to this. I really don’t like this gown to be honest. It is the Oscars for crying out loud, any of her other looks would have sufficed… the red Valentino would have been PERFECT.

The way the neckline sits makes it look like it needs to be hiked up (and I AM sick of plunging necklines, but that’s not the problem, here it just looks like it’s hanging) but the skirt is LOVELY. She really scored on the hair and makeup here! The bangs are FINALLY working!
Nope–on the red carpet it looked ill-fitting and lifeless. She breathed no life into it.
The fit is awful and the dress makes her look short. Her hair is also awful. Its too bad because if someone taller wore this and it fit, it would be amazing.
I LOVE teh dress, and I gt it on her, but I’m so disappinted by this.
I feel like onyl someone really statuesque needed to wear this, someone 5’9 or more, not 5’3.
Also, she has a greta body, but I feel like spanx would hae helped her suck in the few extra inches, or milimeters as the case probably is here, to make hte gown mroe streamline dnad therefore make hte height issue seem less immediate.
It’s also way too similar to the Givenchy that she wore at the premiere a few weeks ago.

I’m amazed by this dress on her, with her red lips and pale skin but I don’t like her bangs at all.
Somebody called Lego hair. Exactly. I have the same feeling.
So it’s not perfection because of her hair.
The top part really hangs on her, shouldn’t have missed that last pre Oscar fitting….too bad, I love Rooney….
She looks good, but i wish she’d changed it up for once. Also, Joan Smalls wore the runway version back in 2010, at the closing of Marina Abramovic’s “The artist is present” exhibition.

She bought this gown at the last minute, Sunday morning. She didn’t fail. It looks nice and I’m glad her make up is okay. But she should have worn some earrings.

I was actually disappointed by this outfit. I didn’t really mind the mostly monochromatic looks she’s been opting for during the awards season, but I expected more from her for the Oscars. I think this looks washes her out a bit and I don’t like the top half of the dress.
