Kate Mara supported her ‘Best Actress’ nominated sister, Rooney Mara, at the 2012 Oscars in Hollywood this evening.
While Rooney defines minimalist chic, Kate looks every bit as ladylike, in a pink Jack Guisso Couture Spring 2012 gown with floral appliqués.
The sparkling dress features one draped sleeves, which adds to the romanticism of the look, while a thin, white belt is an unexpected, but welcome touch.
Soft waves pulled back with a crystal pin and subtle makeup completes the look.
You’d be forgiven if you thought this was Elie Saab.

Such a contrast to her sister. I prefer this soft and sweet look to Rooney’s. But Rooney is edgy and fun in her own right.
this is a fabulous look for kate. she looks far better than rooney in this event imo.
I love that last comment because I thought for sure it was Elie Saab! I like it but I probably will not remember it when it comes down to best dressed
It looks like an Elie Saab knockoff, a dated knockoff at that.
I totally agree. When I first saw it, I thought it was an ES…….
You read my mind FC. Not only I thought that this was Elie Saab, I was convinced that this was Elie Saab.
+1! I though it was Saab as well
This is a gorgeous, ladylike, quietly elegant dress. Imo she blew Rooney out of the water
The droopy sleeve draws attention to or makes it appear that her posture is terrible.
Exactly what I was thinking.
This dress is beautiful, she looks outstanding! Definitely could pass for an Elie Saab gown.
Don’t like the one draped sleeve. Wish it was two instead of that one.
The dress is beautiful but I don’t feel like she’s breathing any life into it.
I would’ve thought it was Elie Saab too. I should look into this designer as this gown is stunning!
I like the dress minus the sleeve detail
I was sure it was Elie Saab! It’s a lovely gown. She’s not making waves, but it’s a nice foil to her sister’s gown.
I adore this on the runway. It’s pretty on the red carpet but not quite right. Maybe it just washes her out too mcuh.
I think she doesn’t have the body to pull off this dress.
IT’S NOT ELIE SAAB? IT IS SO ELIE SAAB THAT IT CAN’T NOT BE ELIE SAAB. WHAT A RIP-OFF.
LOL! I certainly thought it was an Elie Saab. But either way, it’s gorgeous and one of my favorite dresses of the night. But she doesn’t work it…
She looks nice, but that’s it. It actually reminded me a lot of JEssica Alba’s Guccia Premiere at the Golden Globes.
so pretty! and i was sure this was Elie Saab! I think other outlets were even reporting it as such.
Minus the horrible sleeve, this out shines the horrible Elie Saabs we saw tonight.
I really did think it was an Elie Saab outfit when I first saw her on the red carpet. Anyway. I personally liked the gown better on Kate than on the model. I like how the belt accentuates her waist. She looks lovely.
I was absolutely sure that this dress was an Elie Saab.It looks boring on her anyway.
It looks like Jessica Albas Gucci gown from Golden globes!
Very pretty dress.
I’m not convinced about the wearer lack of attitude but hey, maybe it’s in their genes lol.
Lovely dress, but watching her walk down the red carpet, I kept thinking “stand up straight girl”. She was terrible hunched over and looked almost unsure of herself
+1
They’re sisters?? Wow
Horrible posture ruins the dress entirely.
Love Kate Mara’s dress, never heard of the designer before Jack Guisso? It’s stunning!
Wonderful.
