January Jones In Wes Gordon – 2012 Vanity Fair Oscar Party

January Jones showed off her unique style at the 2012 Vanity Fair Oscar Party in West Hollywood last night.

Not one to be afraid of a red carpet risk, January wore a bold Wes Gordon Fall 2012 look, which included a high-waist bronze velvet floor-length contoured trumpet skirt, teamed with a silk organza and georgette scarf top and thick leather waistband.

I have to say I prefer her re-working of the separates and that she made this look her own.

The ‘Mad Men’ actress styled her bob in soft waves, and wore a bright red lippie.

Like Elizabeth Banks, January took a risk. Do you think it paid off?

Unlike Elizabeth Banks her risk did not pay off. It might be the color of the skirt or the hairstyle but this look reads matronly to me.

    I actually don’t mind the dress but I don’t like hair & make-up :/

I’m not a fan of the look, but I prefer the runway styling. It is more effortless, while January appears too matronly. I almost didn’t recognize her at first!

I think it paid off. The look is flattering and unique, and the colors are awesome against her skin tone.

I like it! It might not be some people cup of tea, but I like she put her on twist on it. Though I do like the runway version too.

I’m not keen on this look but prefer January’s interpretation – kudos for taking the risk!

    Hmmm.
My first thought was that she looks like a 19th century schoolmarm gone bad.
But the more I look at this the more I kind-of, sort-of, maybe like it!

WHOOOOAAA This is bad. what in the hell made her way this.

  10. Linda February 27, 2012 at 23:42 #

    YES, YES, YES!!!!
This is so gorgeous and memorable. She really looks like Grace Kelly.

So different, unexpected, interesting and above all it WORKS! She looks lovely. There’s a confidence about this look that makes it a winner. I hope to see more of this from her in future.

I prefer the runway look. The second I saw January against the lush backdrop I was immediately reminded of a tree.

Generally speaking I hate it. I think it is just an ugly combo of colour sand the hair and the lips and it’s all too too much, like a hideous costume, but I do love that she isn’t being boring.
I loved ehr when she took risks, and so hopefulyl this is a step back into that direction, aka mroe versace. The Emmy white gownn still gives me shivers.
p.s. please do not feel that I am trying to say that this reminds me of the emmys versace gown, because this is hideous, that was magical.

I kinda like this but this entire thing just looks so heavy on her.

  15. Mol February 28, 2012 at 01:01 #

I love the runway version, not liking as much January’s take, but it’s still unique so I don’t hate it…..

  16. Rebecca February 28, 2012 at 03:24 #

She always goes there and takes the risk, and for that… she’s pretty awesome.

  17. arwa February 28, 2012 at 06:22 #

For me it’s just too crowded in every aspect

  18. Emi February 28, 2012 at 09:27 #

    Yes, it did.

I don’t like the hair but yes, it paids off!

  20. mm February 28, 2012 at 12:47 #

No the pattern of the skirt is not pretty.

  21. Alina February 28, 2012 at 16:52 #

Yes, it did. She looks beautiful.

2nd mistress in the line of fancy funeral party members.

  23. Tiffany Nicole February 28, 2012 at 21:15 #

paid off in spades. She looks brilliant (except maybe the hair, or something above the waist) and stands out from the rest.

  24. Amy February 28, 2012 at 23:10 #

I’m not really sure if I like the look, the top looks a little too fussy and the skirt materials is weird. Anyway I love January, she always tries something new on the RC and she doesn’t care about the rest

  25. Shaina February 28, 2012 at 23:48 #

I love it, I think it paid off for sure. I don’t really like the hair though…

I much prefer the runway look to January’s. Although the cut of the green fabric makes the top on the runway dress look a bit sloppy, I love how the thin red belt gives the whole dress an attractive and well-balanced shape. At the same time, the much thicker black leather belt combined with the ill-fitting reworking of the green fabric distorts January’s shape completely and makes her look thicker and less curvy than she is, while the leather itself doesn’t go well with either fabric of the dress. Nothing against January but this is a definite ‘no’ for me.
