There is no better red carpet to rock a floral Balmain dress than at the Independent Spirit Awards, and there is no better person to rock that dress than Zoe Saldana.
The actress kindly demonstrated just how it’s done at this year’s ceremony, held in Santa Monica, California this evening.
Zoe opted for this sweet, colourful print Balmain Spring 2012 mini dress which features structured shoulders, a metallic gold print and a jagged edged open back for an unexpected touch.
Nude Brian Atwood peep-toes elongate Zoe’s legs and perfectly complement the dress, but at this point nude pumps are starting to go the same way as the black pumps…unimaginative and uninspiring.
Nonetheless Zoe, as always, is perfection here and I’m glad she didn’t opt for the belt.

Wow, that’s a short “dress”! How does she sit, can she sit in it?!
Just a few inches longer and I might have loved it, but this is just too short for my liking.
i was thinking the exact same thing! she looks beautiful, but the length is so distracting. 2-3 inches more and this would have been perfection.
I don’t like this dress it is too short. The shoes are not working either.

This was one of my favourites from Balmain’s Spring 2012 collection and I’m glad someone as worthy as Zoe has worn it…I can’t take my eyes off it, I’m in love!
I looove the dress because it gives the unfinished look with the jaggered open back, the fraying at the hem and the uneven sleeves and it works so well!! A fantastic dress and Zoe looks unbelievable but it is a bit too short.

Perfection! Nobody is better to rock a Balmain dress than Zoe. It’s so great to see Balmain on an American red carpet, wore by an intelligent woman rather than a shallow singer or reality TV star.
It is cute but way to short for my taste. Just a couple of inches would have made this so much better to me and if the strings hanging off the back hem are intentional… well that is just sad.
Sorry too short for me. Add an inch or 2 and it would be lovely. The raw edge and ultra mini is just way too much going on with the back cutout, zippered sleeves, and heavy material. Zoe has legs for days but this dress for me is just not great.
WAY too short. It is a lovely print, her shoes work here, and her hair looks lovely, but it is practically a shirt. I don’t like the back either.
I don’t mind the shoes because she looks great in them. Dress is great but I agree that it is a tad too short.
Looks like a shirt to me. I think the belt would have helped it look more like an actual dress. Plus Zoe has no curves. She needs the belt as a waist defining accessory. The back of the dress looks like she got attacked by a tiger on the way to the carpet. Terrible. And the print of the dress looks like a comforter I had during my freshman year of college.
Seriously, I have no words for this look… She looks perfection!
