Michelle Williams In Louis Vuitton – 2012 Independent Spirit Awards

Michelle Williams was triumphant at the 2012 Independent Spirit Awards, held on Saturday evening in Santa Monica, California, as she took home the ‘Best Female Lead’ award for her role as Marilyn Monroe in ‘My Week with Marilyn’.

She opted to wear a Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2012 ensemble.

I know many of you are pulling your hair out every time you see Michelle wearing black-and-white, so how do you feel about navy-and-white?

Whilst Michelle does look good in her navy short suit, the look is not as fun as I was hoping would be for this event.

As presented, the look feels very ‘first day back at school’ with the buttoned up blazer.

The only thing missing is a Cambridge satchel to give this look a real school uniform vibe, but she opted for an Olympia Le-Tan ‘The Catcher in the Rye’ embroidered clutch.

    Love this look on her.

She’s so petite, but she has better legs than the model!

  2. Molly February 27, 2012 at 00:51 #

Love this look. Her legs are heavenly!!

  3. Tahj February 26, 2012 at 18:29 #

Seems a little too contrived to me.

TERRIBLE. BAN SHORT-SUITS!!!! Michelle looks like a little schoolboy in this outfit which is HARDLY a good look for a beautiful grown woman. However, I do love the book clutches that everyone’s been carrying…I would love to see the To Kill a Mockingbird one on the RC.

I hate this look… and the over-sized blazer makes this outfit look like the bottom half is missing. Would prefer a more fitted jacket.

Could u talk about Chinese celebries?Bingbing Li and Ziyi Zhang?U konw,a lot of ur fans in China.

  8. tiffany nicole February 26, 2012 at 14:31 #

i find it whimsical and adorable

Refreshingly stunning! I love tailored looks and menswear-inspired looks. It’s exactly what Michelle gave us here. The ensemble highlighted her best body feature – the legs (and a lot of them) – yet still appeared demure. The book clutch was just a perfect addition. She’s clearly an intellectual person.

I actually think this looks very good, honestly this is the best I’ve seen of her the entire award season. I hate her dress choices

  11. SkirtTheIssue February 26, 2012 at 12:52 #

I love this look too- I like the cheekiness of the little school boy look with the book clutch, it’s really fun!

  12. Sandra February 26, 2012 at 11:24 #

I’ve never been a fan of her style myself, and this ill-fitting outfit (for the occasion, that is) is no exception, but I am absolutely in love with that clutch. It’s as if it wants to give hope that the person underneath that boring exterior may have a personality after all.

  13. A. February 26, 2012 at 10:53 #

I actually really like it. Very creatively styled. Love the olympia le-tan clutch.

      + 1

I think it would work if the shirt wasn´t all buttoned up.
I see where she is coming from, but this buttoned up style only works with a suit for an androgynous yet feminine look imo

  15. Ramsay February 26, 2012 at 09:55 #

I like it – it has a fun side to it though less than Kirsten Dunst – still it’s in line with what she has given us before – this clutch is again to die for

  16. Emi February 26, 2012 at 09:05 #

I like it, something new from her. I like the clutch so much, one of my fashion dreams, and she has beautiful legs, much better than the model’s legs.

  17. Jocelyn February 26, 2012 at 08:27 #

I think I would like it more with the blazer unbuttoned, maybe?

  18. Em February 26, 2012 at 08:12 #

I think I’d be in love with this look if Michelle had a different top on – the button up is a bit stuffy – a simple tank top would have had more of an easy breezy feel of the Independent Spirit awards.
All that said I do really like her look!

  19. JacobGH February 26, 2012 at 07:08 #

I have a feeling that everyone is going to hate on this look but I think she is working the hell out of it! Her legs are to die for.

  20. Katrin February 26, 2012 at 07:08 #

I think “back to school” was the look she was going for and that makes it kind of fun. to my eyes at least.

  21. Kim February 26, 2012 at 06:53 #

Ohhh i love this on her! She looks adorable.

  22. Jessica February 26, 2012 at 05:54 #

I wish I could afford to have one of those book clutches! I am utterly smitten with them.

  23. bm February 26, 2012 at 04:59 #

The only thing that save this look from boring-ville is her clutch.

  24. igem February 26, 2012 at 04:49 #

OMG. HER HAIR LOOKS SO GOOD. FINALLY!! I love this look. it really suits her

  25. CTgirl February 26, 2012 at 04:33 #

It’s time for Ms. Williams to grow up and leave behind both the little girl and little boy clothes . . .

    • Fiona-Brasil February 26, 2012 at 09:56 #

      I agree!

      • Carolina February 26, 2012 at 13:39 #

        So do I.

    • bee7 February 26, 2012 at 12:34 #

exactly what i want to say.

  26. dee February 26, 2012 at 04:27 #

Only like the bag. This outfit does not flatter her.

  27. Hannah February 26, 2012 at 03:48 #

I actually absolutely love this look, it is a new, gorgeous, silhouette and style on her, it makes her youthful again! I find the whole thing really flattering, it works well with her hair, and her legs are insanely amazing. I love Olivia le Tan clutches, but very rarely do I love them on the erd carpet, because I feel like they rarely go with the rest of the outfit (as in, not a fan of these with gowns), but here I love the sort of irony and quirkiness of it. I honestly feel excited ot see ehr tmorrow, because for once she has real personality.

  28. christine February 26, 2012 at 03:44 #

I think that this outfit is adorable and refreshing. she looks amazing and i think the clutch was a nice choice, i just wish she had chosen more chic or unique shoes.

  29. gabis February 26, 2012 at 03:14 #

This look most definetely misses a bulging lipstick and some gorgeous statement jewelry. I also don’t like the peep toes. The model’s pumps are great, but since I find Michelle’s legs awful, strappy sandals would’ve been a much much better option as they can be a great distraction for ugly legs. The book clutch was a nice touch though.
I think Evan Rachel Wood would’ve brought this look to a whole new level.

  30. Alice February 26, 2012 at 02:22 #

I think I would prefer the look if the blazer was slightly more fitted, and maybe a brooch right at the top of the neck, just to add some for of interest to the top.

But DAMN! She has some great legs!

  31. Dirk February 26, 2012 at 02:13 #

A bit too severe compared to everyone else’s ‘relaxed’ vibe.

I find these book clutches to be completely delightful though.

    • Alina February 26, 2012 at 06:59 #

      I agree.
