Jennifer Aniston In Tom Ford – ‘Wanderlust’ LA Premiere

Jennifer Aniston attended the premiere of her new movie ‘Wanderlust’ at Mann Village Theatre in Westwood, California last night.

You could’ve knocked me down with a feather when I saw her wearing this Tom Ford Spring 2012 dress.

Her chevron print strapless dress is huge departure from her usual LBD red carpet uniform.

Not only is her dress not black, but it has some interest via the peplum at the waist and the leather trims.

As much as I would like to do a happy dance for this look, I think it could stand to be a few inches shorter as Jen’s best feature are her legs.

I do, however, still think this is BDOTW worthy. Do you?

Black Christian Louboutin pumps and gold cuffs on each wrist completed her look.

oh yes bdotw contender for sure she is perfect here!

  2. becca February 17, 2012 at 14:19 #

The fit up top looks strange, and she’s not rocking it. Not terrible, but not BDOTW-worthy

    • GiGi February 17, 2012 at 14:51 #

+1. Too tight across the hips.

  3. Maria February 17, 2012 at 14:21 #

    Love it! BDOTW please.

  4. liza February 17, 2012 at 14:23 #

hey is there a bamby bump? she look GORGEOUS!

    • Jennifer H-K February 17, 2012 at 15:36 #

She told InStyle that she quit smoking and gained some weight, for some of us it goes right to the tummy and I think her’s did.

    • Cheryl February 17, 2012 at 17:34 #

She 100% looks pregnant. That is why she probably gave up cigarettes.

  5. AW February 17, 2012 at 14:26 #

I looove this dress. I don’t mind the length of the dress but the hair is extremely boring. It’s a gorgeous dress, a sleek “french roll” a la Jennifer Lopez would’ve been nice.

Regardless, Thank God for small miracles.

    • firien February 17, 2012 at 14:38 #

      +1 in everything

  6. Shopgirl February 17, 2012 at 14:27 #

chic classy and fab.. i love every thing about this look

  7. EmmaWoodhouse February 17, 2012 at 14:30 #

Wow! MAJOR improvment! I think this dress is a good choice for her :)
Seriously, is the world ending? Cause both Angie and Jen aren’t wearing black! 😀

  8. gratefulgi February 17, 2012 at 14:34 #

Wow! And I love the length too.

  9. Colleen February 17, 2012 at 14:35 #

Wow…it’s not a LBD! I love this and think she looks fabulous.

  10. Carrie February 17, 2012 at 14:37 #

She did an interview recently and said she was going to try to step out of her comfort zone fashion wise, so hopefully we will see more non lbd’s.

    • mattison February 17, 2012 at 16:50 #

I know her style is safe, but I usually dig it anyway. I’d definitely like to see her stepping outside of the box and experimenting with different colors/silhouettes. I think I’d die of shock if she stepped onto a red carpet with a slicked back ponytail and a bright red lip!

  11. CĂĄtia Santos Reis February 17, 2012 at 14:37 #

I’m usually not seduced by Jennifer’s safe style but we have to give credit where credit is due and this dress looks terrific on her!

The only thing I think she could improve is the shoe department.

  12. Sabina February 17, 2012 at 14:45 #

she looks amazing! love this shape on’s a bit more structured than what she normally wears and it suits her so well!

  13. Alina February 17, 2012 at 14:46 #

Beautiful! I guess she’s going in the right way.

  14. gabis February 17, 2012 at 14:51 #

BDOTW worthy? Oh no, no, no, she looks great and yeah, it’s a big change, but let’s no get carried away, shall we?
I could’ve agreed with the BDOTW nomination and overlooked the boring styling and dress length, if she had opted for the model’s ankle-cuff sandals.

    • Lara February 17, 2012 at 16:58 #

I agree. She is like Kristen Stewart and Angelina Jolie. The minute she does anything out of the ordinary, whether it is successful or not, it seems to immediately be hailed as the second coming of Coco Chanel.

That said, I do really like the look, but the hair and the shoes detract. BDOTW only if it is a slow week.

      • DivaDebbi (Beauty and Fashion Blog) February 17, 2012 at 17:15 #

        +1 Lara, word for word.

        • marina February 17, 2012 at 17:54 #

Agree. Not worthy of BDOTW. Let’s wait for the other premieres.

      • rita February 18, 2012 at 01:31 #

In AJ’s defense, yes she is boring on the RC even though I love BUT when she goes up, she goes ALL THE WAY : make up, hair, colour like for example The Golden Globes last year. JA on the other hand NEVER changes her hair or adds some colour on her lips, something to excite us.

    • dee February 17, 2012 at 18:24 #

      I completely agree.

  15. Lola February 17, 2012 at 14:53 #

I love this Tom Ford collection. To me, it’s better than the two previous one. I want more celebrities to wear those perfect dresses from that collection.
My dream: Diane Kruger in Tom Ford, can you imagine???

She didn’t need the clutch and she should have worn the runway shoes because black louboutin=dull

  16. fromchi-town February 17, 2012 at 15:04 #

Love it totally. She fills it out so much better than the model. I even like the length as it is – it looks very chic and there is a sassiness about it.

  17. Rebecca Z February 17, 2012 at 15:07 #

Gorgeous. definitely a contender for BDOTW

  18. bm February 17, 2012 at 15:09 #

The model’s look would’ve been perfect. Jen Aniston score for me is 8/10.

    • CreoleLady February 17, 2012 at 15:28 #

ITA, the model and her styling are simply glorious. Kudos to Jennifer, though, hope she continues branching out.

  19. Ariel February 17, 2012 at 15:15 #

She looks hot and classy! BDOTW!

    • jo February 17, 2012 at 16:12 #

  20. Tatiana February 17, 2012 at 15:34 #

Had she done something different with her hair (maybe a high chic ponytail) and/or added a pop of color via her makeup (like the red lips on the model or maybe kicked up her smoky eyes) she would have definitely been a BDOTW for me because even though she looks AMAZING in it, I feel like she’s not working that dress to its full capacity. It’s sort of like she made an interesting dress look a bit dull with how she styled her hair and how she did her makeup.

    • Nat39 February 17, 2012 at 17:36 #

That’s exactly how I feel – it seems as if she is not working the dress to its full capacity – well said. Should’ve def. done something about that hair and makeup, plus a non-dull shoe choice and some attitude as she is not selling it to me.
      NOT a BDOTW material.

  21. Henrique February 17, 2012 at 15:39 #

    Boring. Not BDOTW material IMO

  22. andrea February 17, 2012 at 15:46 #

SHe looks fabulous! Love the juxtaposition of those patterns and the leather trim… if only the bracelets were silver and the clutch were a tad smaller it would be perfect.

  23. eleanor February 17, 2012 at 15:48 #

what happened to the times when you used to update about all the stars? now all I see is jennifer anison and nicki minaj….

    • Fashion Critic February 17, 2012 at 17:06 #

Considering I just got off a plane after a 7 hour plane journey from New York to London I can only reply that the airline doesn’t have wifi, so I was unable to update.

      • marina February 17, 2012 at 22:24 #

And you need to rest too! Eleanor, FC is human! Your blog is great, and your commentsbon fashion are also.
Hope you get some rest after this week.

        • Fashion Critic February 17, 2012 at 22:51 #

          Thank you.

I have a fairly quite London fashion week, so I will catch up on sleep then. X

    • Linda February 17, 2012 at 17:50 #

Eleanor, I had to read your comment twice to believe it. Don’t you think that was a very rude comment to make? FC’s coverage is second to none and we all know and love this site for that reason, among others. She’s well known for her speed, accuracy and work ethic.

      • Fashion Critic February 17, 2012 at 18:11 #

Thank you. It’s lovely to be appreciated.

        • Linda February 17, 2012 at 22:17 #

          You’re welcome.

  24. D February 17, 2012 at 16:22 #

great dress but something is missing

  25. Lei February 17, 2012 at 16:25 #

Definitely not worth of BDOTW nomination but a stark improvement!

  26. Angelea February 17, 2012 at 16:41 #

I really like Jen, but for some reason, her dresses always seem to wear her, rather than the other way round. She’s gorgeous, great figure, amazing hair but I never think she looks 100% knockout.

    Anyone know what I mean?!

    • Linda February 17, 2012 at 17:42 #

Yes, I feel the same way. I guess she just fails to excite.

  27. Vee February 17, 2012 at 16:52 #

it’s bc her hair is flat and bleh..which is why she looks boring. however, the length is perfect imo. and while she did not wear the model’s shoes she did do the chain element with her bracelet.

  28. Connie Brighton February 17, 2012 at 17:13 #

BDOTW FOR SURE. One of Jenn’s best looks EVER.

  29. Emi February 17, 2012 at 17:28 #

I don’t remember all the BDOTW worthy, the cut of the dress (I love peplum dresses!) is very beautiful, and I like the bracelets, so yes, it’s worthy.

  30. Vidhya February 17, 2012 at 17:32 #

Haha.. so your jaw was dropping too.. sorry i slept off after tweeting u without even sending the link. I read that in an interview that she is planning to take some risks on the re carpet.. I’m glad she is keeping the promise. I dont see Jen in that many black pumps, so I could only say that she didnt want to take too many risks. So the blah makeup, hair and shoes. Angie wins this round for me! Up the game Jen..

  31. M February 17, 2012 at 17:50 #

i love it… i’ve always liked her simple style though everyone calls her boring.. so when she steps out of the box a little, i love her even more… small baby steps, but shes rocking it… love it!!!

  32. moja31 February 17, 2012 at 17:57 #

i’m actually glad she didn’t shorten it, i’m tired of seeing her in micro minis. it’s nice to see her do something different, but i don’t love this particular dress, wish it didn’t have the pocket detail.

  33. Marijke February 17, 2012 at 18:21 #

  34. anna February 17, 2012 at 19:25 #

her hair is always so shiny!
    BDOTW contender, im my opinion!

  35. doc February 17, 2012 at 19:27 #

Any dress that gives people a pseudo pregnancy paunch should be destroyed.

  36. Tina February 17, 2012 at 20:22 #

Not liking it too much – the top part fills out kinda weirdly. Maybe it’s too high on the chest? Don’t think this is BDOTW.

  37. Taylor February 17, 2012 at 21:41 #

  38. Hannah February 17, 2012 at 21:52 #

I find the whole thing very secretary, and, frankly, apart from Emma Stone and Michelle Obama, I never really love Tom ford on the red carpet.
The saddest part is the shoes, she’s always been shoe stability.
She and Leighton are two of the best shoe closets in hollywood, and between this and the debacle that is Leighton’s feets’ last two outings, I’m worried for the shoe game of Hollywood.

  39. roxana February 17, 2012 at 22:18 #

    a very very beautiful dress!

  40. Carolina Roq February 18, 2012 at 00:02 #

I don’t like her at all.

  41. ramsay February 18, 2012 at 01:35 #

I like the dress especially up close but I must say it looks better on the model

  42. Jennifer February 18, 2012 at 02:29 #

LOVE this… she finally looks age-appropriate yet also subtly sexy. I think the length works on her. Her upper thighs have had enough exposure.
