Tadashi Shoji’s Fall 2012 collection was presented during New York Fashion Week yesterday afternoon.
The designer, who’s known for dressing Oscar, SAG and Golden Globe Award winning actresses, was inspired by the prosperous Golden Age of Shanghai in a glamorous, modern time.
He romanced us with opulent jewel-tone dresses and gowns with lace pattern tiers, and cowl-back gowns with embellished lace panels.
The collection ranged from floaty chiffon, lace and silk to a much heavier velvet.
Rodney Cutler for Cutler/Redken styled the models’ hair into a simple side-parted bun to complement their striking red pouts.
Front Row: Angela Simmons, Miss Jay and Aisha Tyler
Who I See Wearing This Collection: Taylor Swift, Andrea Riseborough, Abbie Cornish, Emily Blunt and Octavia Spencer

I would die for that black cowl-neck gown with the lace yoke on Tilda.
I don’t like this collection. At all. Maybe I will like it on the RC.
Which dress do you think would suit Octavia?
I would love to see her in the green tiered dress
So far my favorite collection of that day. Loved it! I think the lace elements that McQueen and Valentino brought out last season are starting to catch on.
i would die to see someone wear one of the black, red or green lace dresses at the oscars..if not i offer myself!XD
So much of it felt heavy and dated to me, but there a couple stunners.
Anyone else get a Downton Abbey vibe from this collection?
