Michelle Williams was at The Beverly Hilton hotel in California today for the 84th Academy Awards Nominations Luncheon.
The actress, who is nominated for her lead performance in ‘My Week With Marilyn’, wore her second look from the Victoria, Victoria Beckham Spring 2012 collection.
Her sleeveless collared ivory dress with clouds and sequin details replicating rain is a laidback event-appropriate choice, but her whimsical dress was let down majorly by some unimpressive black pumps.
The overall look would’ve looked much better with some interesting footwear.
The Giuseppe Zanotti toe-cap pumps immediately spring to mind, or the Marc Jacobs Spring 2012 Mary Janes.
Beauty-wise she opted for a deep rouge lip colour and rosy cheeks.
Which shoes would you have liked to have seen Michelle wear with this dress?

the cream version would look amazing
Usually I’m a big fan of Michelle’s style (loved her SAG dress, and her recent Erdem look!) but this look is both childish and dumpy. Not to mention that it shouldn’t have been worn with black pumps!!!
Totally agree. This is way too youth for my liking. Someone with Michelle’s frame and aesthetic should well and truly stay away from whimsy – she actually looks like a child here.
You said it–childish and dumpy. A really bad choice–these celebs really need to stop letting their little girls pick out their clothes.
Agree totally!
I think that she looks horrible. Such a dress isn’t made for her body type. She kind of looks pregnant.
She’s not carrying the look. Her arms look awkward, terrible posture.
That was the first thing I noticed – not good at all
Black pumps? Really?? What is wrong with these celebrities!!
This is awful. God, what was she thinking?
Ugh this dress is so awful…. its just an crap attempt at marc by marc jacobs…
She looks like a doll, and not in a good way…and the hair cut overemphasizes the cutesy peter-pan styles she goes for like a child playing dress up… bring back mustard Jason Wu anyday…
I am convinced Michelle is stuck in some sort of childlike fantasy. This dress looks awful on her and she had to go and pick the most boring pair of shoes. Is it the haircut? Hair color? I want my gorgeous and stylish Michelle back! I would love to see her in Antonio Berardi or Reem Acra. I think a pair of sexy Reed Krakoff strappy sandals would have upped this look… a little.
I will die if she wears Antonio Berardi
Me too!!
An unattractive dress on the model — and downright ugly on Michelle. The harsh make-up and black pumps are almost clownish. WHY? WHY? WHY?
I think this dress should have been made for little girls.
She pretty much looks good in everything!!!!!!!!!!
i’ve always thought she is boring and now this is plain awful. i hope she would start growing her hair out for her own sake
Terrible look, really.
This is awful!! Bad posture, bad dress and bad shoes. I know she can look great so lets see it
Some silver strapped shoes would have been lovely
how she always manage to ruin it is just beyond me! Please bring back the old Michelle back. Please
Hands down the best dress from that collection, its so cute with the clouds, and glitter rain, whimsical, but chic. Actually perfect for Michelle’s style, and the material looks lush, and expensive, great choice for the Oscar luncheon (loose silhouette over something tight), not even the shoes bother me, but i agree could have been better.
The dress is not horrible, but it does not flatter Michelle at all. It makes her look thick through the middle, which she isn’t. Maybe add a belt? Or maybe skip this dress completely. It was probably comfy and fun so she chose it.
This is awful.
The only part of the outfit that does’t work for me in the dress, because, in spite of the rain clouds, it is light and happy and fun and youthful, and with her hair ad makeup are shoes and demeanour, Michelle is one of those things. Just every time she hits the red carpet it is at least somehwhat boring, expected, controlled and mature.
Clothes always look limp and shapeless on Michelle – she rarely excites me on the red carpet. This look is SCREAMING for a belt!
the dress itself is awful, like a child designed it. michelle doesnt fair too well in the dress at all.
