Back on home turf, Cate Blanchett goes a very long way to redeem herself, following her previous look, by glowing on the red carpet at the 2012 AACTA Awards which were held at the Sydney Opera House in Australia earlier this week.
She wore a look from the Alexander McQueen Spring 2012 collection.
Her glorious gold metallic pleated silk dress was teamed with metallic gold peep-toes and an embellished clutch.
This is the Queen Cate we all know and love.
I hope she continues to reign in this manner from now on.

Cate the Great + McQueen = fabulosity.
Forever my favorite designer, & Sarah Burton is a worthy successor. I’m continually surprised, impressed, and thankful for the work she produces.
Sensational!
One word: regal. After quite a few underwhelming looks in a row, Cate has hit it out of the ball park here. Enough of those shapeless and dowdy Louis Vuitton numbers, this dress displays the silhouette that suits Cate works so effortlessly: a dramatic shoulder, a nipped waist and a skirt that drops to the knee or slightly under. Whilst the fabric looks a little garishly gold in this photo, on screen the gold tone was so wonderfully shimmering and subtle and radiated warmth on her face. A stunning choice.
Fabulous, flawless, for the nomination (of BDOTW)!
love this look, she looks like a queen
BDOTW
She should get back to acting more so we can see more red carpet appearances. Am I right?
Second thought, she is doing some of The Hobbit, so a lot of promo for that towards the end of the year. Then I’m sure it’s going to reap through all major award shows, so she’ll be showing up for that definitely.
right
Works fantastically well right down to the ankles, where it stops working. I prefer the runway shoes here as a light, interesting balance to the dress, while Cate’s shoes drag the look downward. Redeemed quite a bit by that wonderful neckline embellishment!
She is glowing. She looks so beautiful, back to her best.
We’re not worthy is an understatement. Flawless.
WOW. Just WOW!
Love the whole look except the footwear. I really don’t like peep-toes unless they’re super high heels. These shoes aged Cate.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Queen return to her full form!!
So happy to see Cate Glowing like this again!! BDOTW!!
Amazing!! Zoe Saldana needs to take note on how to wear McQueen
Yep, this is Queen Cate!
The dress is simply exquisite ! And I know she does not want to overkill it with a pair of gold heels but it’d be so much hotter IMO.
long hail the queen !
I love her and her style, but the shoes are just wrong for this look in my opinion.
amazing. BDOTW worthy
I like that even without the belt she still has a great fit and shape. For some reason this reminds me of her 2007 met gala dress.
I KNEW SHE WOULD RETURN!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing from head to toe. This is stunning.
I am speechless.
Queen Cate reigns again.
Dress, hair and makeup so stylish and flawless. Shoes however look like some of nana’s comfy slip-ons painted gold. With access to some of the world’s most beautiful shoes, WHY?
I think I only like this outfit from the waist up. If she’d only shortened the dress to the model’s length, smoothes out the dress, added the belt and picked lighter shoes I would’ve loved this look for how great that colour us on her.
