The biggest shock of the 2012 SAG Awards didn’t come in an envelope tonight.
No, the biggest surprise was that Tilda Swinton didn’t wear Haider Ackermann.
The British actress chose a rather different look, wearing a custom Lanvin dress.
Known for her unique personal style, Tilda was quite on-trend with the rest of the carpet in the flowing off-white gown.
Long sleeves and her signature blonde crop maintained some of the classic Tilda look.
Even though Tilda does minimalist often, we can’t help but feel like this look falls flat, even though she opted for a berry lip colour, Pomellato statement rings and a gold Fred Leighton cuff.

I don’t see why anyone would a belt here – the shape of the dress just doesn’t allow it.
While I do dislike the shoes, it’s one of the best Lanvins I’ve seen on the red carpet in ages – I’m ultimately a fan of this look.
+1
whatever… she always rocks coz she’s unique in every aspect not just her fashion. Love Tilda!
This definitely was a shock because it is so different for her. I do like it but I do agree that it falls a bit short. A gold belt to match the cuff would have made this great. Still love her
I know everyone is loving the cuff, but I’d like this look a lot more if she switched it out for a belt. Still think she looks good, though.
I love this. I would have added a belt, but thats all I can knock her for. Love the bracelet.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz
i love it… the golden bracelet is beautiful
Tilda fails to impress me here. Tilda is far too masculine to pull this off, plus the waist is making me itch, a belt perhaps… This just isn’t the right shape for her, so it fails to flatter her.
This dress would have looked fab with a berry and/or gold coloured belt I think- maybe similar to Emma Stones’s Lanvin eagle one from the Globes? I loved Tilda’s Globes choice though, I have high hopes her Oscar one will knock it out the ball park (if she goes given she wasn’t nominated?)
I quite like this, Tilda looks bright and fresh, simple is good here.
Very flat and boring, I’m disappointed after her amazing outing at the Globes.
I don’t like this on her. This doest have the “Tilda Swinton” vibe that she always brings to the red carpet. It just doesn’t seem like her style.
What brings this look down for me mostly is her rather masculine stance. Would´ve preferred a few more feminine touches for Tilda via simple earrings and flattering eye-makeup. Somehow this looks a tad frumpy.
Agree on the masculine stance of hers on the left pic and a belt would have made it look better. Makeup and hair fantastic. No jewelry is just fine – its part of the statement.
A belt would save this look.
Yes..
Totally – a big statement belt would have energised this look. Even an amazing necklace would have been better.
preach!
Yes, she needed a belt.
You’re 100% right.
+1
This look leaves me feeling a little deflated, particularly in light of her truly incredibly Haider Ackermann ensemble at the Golden Globes. A little too simple, a little too understated, a little too one-dimensional for me unfortunately.
She took my breath away, as she always, always does. IT is such a wonderfully refreshing look, and I am drooling over the cuff. She or her stylist have a great eye for cuffs. She only needed either a belt or a classic Lanvin statement necklace or earrings to make the look pop a little bit more.
If this had been in some sort of color, whether pastel or more vivid, I would have loved it. But the off-white just washes her out, unfortunately.
AMAZING
Yes, it’s one of my favourite looks of hers ever. The hair and make up are flawless, her eyes are bluer than ever, and the berry lips are heavenly. She’s never looked better, IMO. I wouldn’t change a thing.
