Rooney Mara In Givenchy – ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ Japan Premiere

Rooney Mara didn’t attend the 2012 SAG Awards yesterday evening because she was gearing up for the Asian leg of her promo tour for ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’.

This evening in Tokyo she stunned on the red carpet wearing a Givenchy Spring 2012 dress to the Japan premiere.

Those of you who had grown tired of the all-black looks will no doubt be pleased at this sculptural white halter dress.

She opted to wear the dress without the white sheer blouse to give more edge to the look.

Lacquered locks, white ankle-strap sandals and a nude lip colour provided the finishing touches.

You know you’re doing something right when you look better than the model wearing it.

I agree. She does look better. I really like this on her.

I agree too. She maybe look like a ghost but a – I really like ghost-like looks (as on others as on myself) and b – that suits her in my opinion.
And this dress is simply gorgeous.

One of my favourite looks from her, edgy chic. Love her in white. I understand the whole minimalist idea for this tour but very simple stud earrings would´ve provided a perfect finishing touch, wouldn´t have hurt really.
She should stop with this timid pose and find a better way of positioning her arms/hands.

I liked this as well and agree that her posing leaves something to be desired, the hands especially.

Good, but not the best. What really bothers me is her expression. Always the same, like she’s still playing her role.

  5. Dhppy January 30, 2012 at 17:30 #

Love it! Love It! Sleeves, no sleeves, either way, love it!

She is my new girl crush, I love everything about her look: her hair, her makeup and the gowns she has been wearing during her movie promo. It’s just so refreshing to see someone in Hollywood going for a different look than everybody else. She has a Cate Blanchett vibe to her.

    • goldfish January 30, 2012 at 20:19 #

      agree with you completely!

    • Martin January 31, 2012 at 01:10 #

Totally agree. She is beginning to hold herself with the poise and integrity and natural elegance of Cate Blanchett. This look is pretty much flawless for me.

Loved this dress on her! My girl crush too!

  7. Emi January 30, 2012 at 17:56 #

Amazing dress, but she reminds me of C. Mullighan, they’re both quite lifeless on the red carpets… Couldn’t they make her take some posing lessons? Those hands…

  9. Henrique January 30, 2012 at 18:01 #

I used to call her boring until she wore that amazing Rodarte gown. This is great look for her. Flawless makeup

  10. Kitty January 30, 2012 at 18:07 #

    One word – Stunning!

  11. Linda January 30, 2012 at 18:18 #

She is stunning. I think she has an amazing tour that will be surely best of the year worthy. I adore this dress on her. Yes, it’s a similar silhouette to some of her other looks, but it’s amazing to see unique and lovely dresses like this on the red carpet. I LOVE it and her face and hair are perfection as always.

I looove it, she always look like she just came out of a Vogue magazine.. I really want her to wear look 5 (with the huge earrings) or 10 from the latest Givenchy couture collection for the Oscars.

  13. Eline January 30, 2012 at 19:05 #

No doubt better than those cookie cutter modes, fashion fades, only style remains the same.

  14. TeaAtTwo January 30, 2012 at 19:21 #

She makes the dress look really effortless elegant. Also the peplum gives her bit of shape. I hope to see her in colour at the Oscars.

  15. Jones19 January 30, 2012 at 19:35 #

So pretty, love the sculptured design.

  16. chris January 30, 2012 at 19:56 #

    refreshing, flawless…like an angel!

  17. Claire January 30, 2012 at 22:44 #

    She looks sensational

  18. Jen January 31, 2012 at 03:18 #

Beautiful, except the shoes. The ankle strap interrupts the line of her legs to an unflattering effect.

  20. Alina January 31, 2012 at 09:23 #

    Love it!

Great look!! Love her hair and makeup

  22. Avery February 2, 2012 at 13:30 #

I seriously am in love with her! Never fails to amaze me. She’s going to kill it at the Oscars!

  23. T. February 2, 2012 at 13:52 #

    It looks amazing on her!

  24. Parvati February 2, 2012 at 19:55 #

She looks beautiful. I’d like to see her wear more colour, but she looks really good in white or black, as well, so I don’t really mind.

By the way, did anyone else think of Natalie Portman’s white Givenchy Haute Couture dress back in Cannes Festival 2008, when they saw this dress?

  25. EmmaWoodhouse February 5, 2012 at 00:27 #

I think this dress is weird, actually. Not loving it.
