Katharine McPhee celebrated the premiere of her new show, ‘Smash’, in New York City on Thursday evening with Sarah Jessica Parker.
She wore a black and white Donna Karen Pre-Fall 2012 dress with a navy bow sash.
The voluminous dress pairs well with Katherine’s tousled lob, but for the premiere of her own show, I would have preferred something a little more glitzy and a little less aging.
The show is about Broadway, after all.
A stack of bangles and sapphire drop earrings do help the simple look, though.

On the model, it has sort of an architectural but feminine look that I think is really interesting. On Katherine though, it looks a little limp, particularly in the bodice area. Not bad overall, though.
This is a hard look to pull off I think. On the runway it is simple and elegant but on Katherine it’s a little messy and sloppy. Something just doesn’t sit right… it’s pretty just not quite right.
I’m madly in love with this look. Very vintage-y feeling.
I agree – this look is aging.
Yawn. Meryl Streep should wear this, not Katherine McPhee.
