Lea Michele In Marchesa – 2012 Golden Globe Awards

Lea Michele took to the red carpet for the 2012 Golden Globe Awards this evening.

It should come as no surprise that Lea chose Marchesa for the event.

She wore an antique embroidered illusion dress from the Spring 2012 collection.

The feather-like appliqués is the focus point of this look, before it glides down into a slinky liquid skirt.

Smouldering eye makeup and a messy bun complete the look.

lovely dress but she isnt tall enough to pull it off.

  2. Dhppy January 16, 2012 at 04:45 #

Why, oh why did this ever happen?

  3. Nat39 January 16, 2012 at 04:46 #

She looks confident, sexy and totally working it, lovely touch of colour via the turquoise ring. I like it.

  4. Amber January 16, 2012 at 04:50 #

Awful, just awful. She looks like a 45 year-old in 1985.

    • gurlygurl January 16, 2012 at 11:46 #

Agreed. You’d think the sheer detail would make for a very sexy look but this is very aging and old fashioned. It’s a little bit Liza Minnelli meets Drag. I really wish some of these young starlets would stop working against their youth and opt for bolder, brighter outfits instead of trying to dress like they’ve been on the red carpet for the past 40 years.

  5. Shaina January 16, 2012 at 04:53 #

I actually really liked this on the red carpet but seeing it now, I’m not as big of a fan. Still a pretty gown though.

  6. Regina January 16, 2012 at 04:55 #

Not her best, but I’m glad they got rid of those side details and she’s still working it, as usual. Love the hair and make-up, though.

      +1 I agree completely.

  7. RW January 16, 2012 at 05:30 #

The upper body of the dress is a little too figure skating outfity

  8. Michelle January 16, 2012 at 05:36 #

This isn’t working for me at all.

  9. Cheryl January 16, 2012 at 06:11 #

Perhaps a change in the hairstyle would have improved this look. I envisioned marcel waves to go with the dress ala Old Hollywood in the golden age. Also, this is a “look at me, I’ve made it” pose that almost always strikes me as desperate. I wish she’d be confident enough to not look as such. The dress is doing enough talking. The pose just pushes it off the edge a little. Overall, it’s still a good look. But improvements needed.

    • GGGGGGGG January 17, 2012 at 16:32 #

I agree Veronica Lake waves would have made this look. Also I dont really like the ring.It just looks like a little green dot. Like theres something wrong with the picture

  10. rebecca o January 16, 2012 at 06:18 #

Awful dress. She looks like an ice skater from the 1980s.

  11. Denise Lopez January 16, 2012 at 06:18 #

Im really interested in this dress.

  12. Raquel January 16, 2012 at 06:19 #

It’s bad on the catwalk and it’s bad on Leah. It ages her a good 20 years and it’s bordeliner tacky, as in 80′s ice skater tacky. It’s a shame because I have to agree that she is working it and her makeup, hair and jewelry are flawless. One thing I find interesting is that her version has embroidery all over her writs, which make for an interesting illusion that she is wearing diamond cuffs.

  13. Denise Lopez January 16, 2012 at 06:19 #

Im really interested in this dress.

  14. roxana January 16, 2012 at 06:59 #

    i like it!

  15. Dani January 16, 2012 at 06:59 #

    Sheer + embroidery + metallic + long sleeves + train + boobies = too try-hard.

  16. MartaM January 16, 2012 at 07:04 #

I actually love her in this amazing dress, she workd it perfectly. Disliking the make-up so very much, plus hthe hair – it ages her plus 20 years.

make a post on Angelina Jolie, she looked incredible!

She could have done better, but this is still one of the rare looks that actually works from this collection.

  19. Vicky January 16, 2012 at 07:34 #

    Half ice-skater, half tin-(wo)man…
Her usual overposing screams attention seeker, not a good thing (was she even nominated, personally?) which is one of the reasons I’m having a hard time warming to her.

    • Vibes January 17, 2012 at 05:37 #

That entire collection is ice-skater central.

  20. Henrique January 16, 2012 at 08:08 #

That’s what I call an ugly dress.

  21. Sea January 16, 2012 at 08:31 #

Why hasn’t she learned the lesson from the others who’ve worn it and from this blog not to wear this dress?

  22. Lucinda January 16, 2012 at 10:23 #

Oh such a good choice for her. She is totally working it. She is my favorite right now.

  23. bm January 16, 2012 at 10:52 #

Well, This is my first time in a long time when i’m like her red carpet dress.
And, i think she’s smart enough to remove the detail on the hips.

  24. Jones19 January 16, 2012 at 10:54 #

It`s a tad try too hard for me but this design is gorge, Marchesa often struggles with being compared to figure skater dresses and this is no exception.

  25. Li January 16, 2012 at 12:01 #

I little bit daring, but I till like it. I’m glad she wore the dress without the extra peplum details.

  26. YouRockMyWorld January 16, 2012 at 12:29 #

Horrible! Worst dressed in my opinion..

  27. carmen sandiego January 16, 2012 at 22:37 #

I loved this. It dazzles. There’s a mean-ness to it that I think looks good on her.

  28. fabiana January 16, 2012 at 22:47 #

i love the dress but i dont love it on her. she looks like shes trying too hard

  29. EmmaWoodhouse January 17, 2012 at 01:38 #

Tacky ice skater. What more can be said? I was totally unimpressed.

  30. jK January 17, 2012 at 04:15 #

Rachel Berry trying SO HARD to be Halle Berry circa 2002 10 years after.

  31. Esther January 17, 2012 at 05:49 #

This dress was meant for someone tall and lean, not for someone who has Lea’s frame, or even HER. Would’ve liked to see Zoe Saldana or someone else with sophisticated class to wear this beautiful gown instead.

  32. R. January 17, 2012 at 07:09 #

Just not sexy enough to pull this dress off

  33. Zee January 17, 2012 at 09:08 #

This reminds me the dress Sandra Bullock once wore in Oscars (link below). Sandra’s dress was more beautiful (in my opinion).

  34. Sharon January 17, 2012 at 12:14 #

Lea has watched too many old movies. People just don’t pose like this anymore and I wish she’d stop too. The dress doesn’t help either.

  35. robbie January 17, 2012 at 13:18 #

the fact she positively reeks of despression ruins this dress. lea you are not jennifer lopez stop trying to be a diva. seeing her “pose” on the red carpet is just so painful.

    • robbie January 17, 2012 at 13:18 #

      *desperation

  36. Elaine2 January 17, 2012 at 13:49 #

I saw her on TV on the red carpet. Her behavior was horrible, so full of herself. Unfortunately, I don’t think anything would look good on her because of the way she acts.

  37. Alina January 17, 2012 at 15:53 #

    Awful.

  38. Heather January 17, 2012 at 16:04 #

She looks like a drag queen!

  39. Katie January 17, 2012 at 16:04 #

I love the dress but not on Michelle at all, its fab on the model

  40. Cross January 17, 2012 at 18:17 #

If the nude mesh was lighter and closer to her complexion, and her hair in a simple bun like the model, this might have worked.

  41. Shauni212 January 17, 2012 at 19:25 #

She annoys me but I do love this look on her though…

  42. Savanna Schubert January 17, 2012 at 19:54 #

While gazing at Lea Michele’s dress I found how much color she really needed. I honestly don’t think that dark and light shades of gray(or silver) fit anyone exceptionally well. Although this dress was stunning on her I would like to see a splash of color. Over all I absolutely loved how this fit her!!! She looked amazing.

  43. laura D January 18, 2012 at 21:44 #

As I was trying to decide whether I liked this dress, watching her on the red carpet, she was making the most ridiculous poses – and then she licked her lips. Not a “my mouth is dry and I licked my lips without thinking about it”, which would be a forgivable faux pas… no, she did a full-on, “seductive” lip-lick at the cameras.

It doesn’t matter how pretty she is or what she wears, she makes herself look ridiculous.
