Rooney Mara In Valentino – ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ Rome Premiere

Rooney Mara was in Italy on Monday night for the Rome premiere for her latest movie, ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’.

For the first time on the film’s extensive press tour, Rooney attended the event in something brightly-coloured; a gorgeous red Valentino Spring 2012 gown.

Rooney’s gown had shorter sleeves than the runway version, and opted not to wear the thin red belt and long gold chains.

While I prefer the sleeves and belt seen on the runway, I can overlook these small details for what feels like a major triumph.

This scarlet hue looks perfectly dramatic against Rooney’s fair skin and dark hair.

Such a stunning look, BDOTW worthy.

Fantastic. She is someone who has worked to define a unique style personality. She seems to pare everything to essentials.

    I agree on the sleeves.
Glad to see her wearing colour, but I think that more mysterious colours work better for her.

Don’t like it. Miss the sleeves and the belt. She looks like a little girl in mom’s dress.

      +1. It’s completely wearing her.

i agree. The colour is great yes, but we cannot just love it because she strayed from her black/white/grey colour palette. The dress initself is not that spectacular.

Not bad but a few simple finishing touches like a thin belt and simple earrings would`ve made this look more complete and lovely. But, of course,it`s not possible since she is so restricted by the overly minimalist style imposed on her for the tour which reaches a point of absurdity (no wonder it all feels so unnatural and “fabricated”)
A few finishing touches for Rooney wouldn`t hurt Salander, I`m sure of it.

I think the simplicity in her presentation brings out the lovely tiered effect of the gown, the horizontal bands in the skirt are echoed by her bangs, it’s really stripped down and works for me, no extra embellishment needed. Also love this color on her – pale skin, black hair and the red gown, again, very elemental and strong!

It needs the belt. Other than that, I really like it. Love the girly dress with Rooney’s harsh hair cut.

I think her stylist is doing a great job at dressing her a la Lisbeth Salander, hitting the right balance between edgy minimalist and classic red carpet. This dress with the styling is another triumph for the stylist but Mara never makes me go wow; the clothes wear her.

I’m so glad to see her change up her look a little that I can overlook the sleeves.

Love the color, not the dress

I think she is starting to look more like Rooney, less like Lisbeth. Which is a good thing. Don’t know if it is the color or the gaze, but this is a huge improvement.

Despite missing the sleeves I adore this look.

I hope she wore the runway shoes, they’re very cute.
