Naomi Watts attended the 2011 National Board of Review Awards Gala in New York City yesterday.
The event took place on the same day as Stella McCartney’s Pre-Fall 2012 collection, so it’s no surprise that Stella’s bestie wore a look from that collection.
Naomi’s navy and gold beaded loose-fitting dress was teamed with black faux-leather pumps.
I personally would’ve preferred the dress to have been more nipped in at the waist and the shoes to have been more dainty and less clunky, but Naomi makes it work for her.
It’s unfortunate that she gives herself helmet hair by pushing her hair behind her ear.
She arrived wearing a black wool cape and a black leather ‘Grace’ clutch from the same Stella McCartney Pre-Fall 2012 collection.

I think the dress would have been better if the beaded part didn’t go down to the skirt too. But the worst thing in this look is definitely the shoe choice.

The shoes aren’t doing it for me. In a really big way. I prefer the coat over the dress.
Everything seems to be working just fine when the coat comes into play – it balances off the heavy shoes and covers up the silly beading pattern on the dress with a patch of navy material somehow left out, almost as if the beading wore off from lying on the stomach for too long.
I think Stella McCartney is highly overrated. And those shoes are horrific.
I don’t like the dress either. Looks like she’s wearing a rug.
This entire look is tragic to me. The length makes her legs look stumpy and the shoes are ridiculous especially with this dress.
Weird. It looks like Nat39 said–like the beading wore off. I don’t like it, although navy and gold is one of my favorite color combinations. The coat is good, but as for her hair? *Gasp of horror*
