Octavia Spencer attended the 2012 Annual Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala in California on Saturday evening, where she accepted the award for ‘Breakthrough Performance’ for her role in ‘The Help’.
The actress wore a David Meister midnight-blue blouson sequin evening gown.
Made out of jersey, with cut-away sleeves and a column skirt, this dress is figure flattering and, overall, completely stunning on Octavia.
The subtle pattern on the gown’s skirt is a nice variation on the standard draped-and-sequined Hollywood dress.
Perhaps a silver clutch to match her teardrop diamond earrings would have added a nice touch, but A+ otherwise.

YES!!! An absolute A plus on the gown choice. This is how you take your figure into consideration and find the most flattering way to present it – this gown actually gives her body a shape in a very subtle illusionary way (no sleeveless body fitted mermaid gowns that end up looking shapeless, take note Queen Latifah). The cut-away sleeves add a flirty touch to the look saving it from being too covered up matronly while still providing enough coverage for her upper arms and shoulders.
Great colour, beautiful makeup, the slick ´do works perfectly (no need for anything softer romantic or sexy divalicious), don´t mind the simple clutch at all as the gown itself provides enough sparkle.
You’ve said it all.
I love the shimmery pattern.
