Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: December 2011

The award for most the brand that has most inspired the high-street definitely goes to Miu Miu.

On this occasion it was Topshop who were inspired to create these two-tone black and gold glitter toe-cap pumps.

They are almost identical, but the Miu Miu pumps have a high heel and a gold inside trim to the black on the Topshop pumps.

You can get the Miu Miu heels from Net-A-Porter International, reduced in the sale, for £280 or the Topshop ‘Jamaica’ curved heel frome Topshop US for $110 or Topshop International for £55.

Blake Lively was in very good spirits at Sprinkles bakery in New York City on Friday.

That’s because she helped create the ‘Smore’ cupcakes, which will be available at Sprinkles starting January, to help raise money for Oxfam’s Somalia famine disaster fund.

The ‘Gossip Girl’ star wore a Gucci Resort 2012 ensemble.

A gold leather pleated skirt was paired with a white satin sheer blouse with a gold floral accent.

From the ankles up, this is a cute look.

I don’t know what possessed her to add those green Brian Atwood ‘Maniac’ pumps; they don’t work for me at all.

Especially when we know what great shoes she has in her closet.

A sleek ponytail and natural makeup provided the finishing touches.

Yay or nay on the footwear choice?

Claire Danes was glowing as she made a guest appearance on ‘The View’ on Friday.

The blonde actress wore a Reed Krakoff Resort 2012 dress. This is her second look from this collection.

I love how the embellished details on the shoulders of her gorgeous green tank dress shimmer under the studio lights.

The dress with the pleated skirt was presented as a drop-waist dress, but Claire has tightened it around the waist, which has also made it shorter to reveal more of her shapely legs.

Nude peep-toes completed her look.

Jason Wu’s Pre-Fall 2012 collection was one of his most luxurious and sophisticated to date.

‘Charley Harper meets the Maharaja’ is how Jason describes his collection. By mixing the rich colour palette of the Maharajah with the graphic work of Harper, he has created a charismatic collection.

With camel, black and navy as the grounding colours, the collection has vibrant burnt orange, leafy greens and rich burgundy.

Jason continues to play up masculinity meets femininity with sporty sweaters and buttoned-up blouses paired with tailored colour-block pants and oversized coats. A navy brocade tuxedo with a black-sheer blouse makes for a strong, seductive look.

On the flip side, dainty patterned A-line dresses have a retro vibe, but with a cinched leather knotted belt and long leather gloves they keep the look modern.

Fitted dresses with long-knit or sheer sleeves ooze 60s glamour, which I can picture being favoured by Dita von Teese.

A richly embroidered camel cape was my favourite from Jason’s outerwear, but he also presented a navy windowpane Victorian cape coat and an anorak ‘suit’.

Other standout details included opulent embroidery, houndstooth panelling, and leather and sequined collars.

For the red carpet Jason went for dark, romantic, seductive elegance which I can picture on many gorgeous brunettes plus Diane Kruger, of course.

Favourites: Short sleeve sweater with colour-block pants and navy brocade tuxedo

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Rachel Weisz, Diane Kruger, Angelina Jolie, Mila Kunis, Zoe Saldana, Leighton Meester, Hilary Swank, Michelle Monaghan, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Liv Tyler, Michelle Obama, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Freida Pinto
