Mary J Blige hit the red carpet last night for VH1’s Divas Celebrate Soul event at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.
The divas paid tribute to the great cities of soul music: Chicago, Philadelphia, Detroit, London and Memphis.
I’m thankful she wore Michael Kors because she always looks her best when she dons his designs.
On this occasion she wore a Michael Kors Fall 2011 one-shoulder nude jersey gown which was decorated with crystal embroidery.
Mary also wore a fur jacket on the red carpet to perfect her divalicious look.
An asymmetrical bob with blunt bangs and glossy lips provided the finishing touches.
If this dress is looking very familiar to you, that’s because Gwyneth Paltrow wore a similar dress from the same collection to the Vanity Fair Oscar party earlier this year.
For one of her performances Mary wore an Alexander McQueen Fall 2011 tweed jacket.
The fur-trimmed jacket is an exquisite example of tough-luxe, with its strong shoulders, multiple zipper details and a peplum waist.
Leather pants and over-the-knee boots completed her look.

this imo is flawless style from mary j. she’s got the right hair and make up and she’s not over accessorized
I love both looks. Finally… I was getting worried that she lost her fashion mojo….
I absolutely love the Michael Kors dress. The fit is perfect on her and the draping detail on the side is exquisite.
I’m not a big fan of fur jackets, but its colour compliments the dress very well.
I don’t like her stage outfit, though.
I have the rich foods from holiday parties on my mind so I’m going to call that color vanilla cream. Mmm. Love the chubby with the pants but not so much on Mary. She looks good in the Kors gown and I love her fiercely fabulous stage look.
The dress is wonderful on MJB. She looks comfortable, both in the dress and in her skin. Excellent choice.
The Michael Kors gown is stunning on her, it’s doing wonders for her body. That peplum McQueen jacket is to die for! I love it!
First look – stunning !
I love how the dress looks so nice on her figure… The one GP wore didn’t fit her too well in my opinion, did nout much for her figure.
gorgeous
She looks gorgeous in the Michael Kors. Stunning and excellent fit. It looks much better without the fur jacket IMO.
Love both looks, she looks amazing!! I was actually just tossing up whether to buy the same Michael Kors dress. Love the Alexander McQueen jacket, Mary J shows how to give an amazing performace and look hot being fully clothed!!
She looks phenomenal in the McQueen, she didn’t come to mind when I saw it but it suits her well.
Love her in the MK. I sold this dress. It’s hand studded in about a million Swarovski crystals. She must have looked extraordinary in it.
Wow–she is looking really great in both these looks. Go girl!
I love both looks, but the hair is truly awful to me. It looks so fake, either the colour, nor the bangs which are a little too long, imo, work at all for me.
She looks stunning in that Micheal Kors!
Love the drapery of the Kors look but it seems a bit tight about the bust…the fur is such fun but I don’t like the stage outfit. So over tight leather pants.
The dress is wonderful, especially the rouching detail. But I’m starting to wonder if Mary ever met a pair of leather pants she didn’t like! Redundant!
Lookin’ good…
