Rooney Mara took to the red carpet again last night to promote her latest movie, ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’, with the New York premiere at the Ziegfeld Theatre.
She was back on form wearing a Prabal Gurung Spring 2012 dress.
The black silk-crepe dress with graphic inserts and flutter sleeves also has a completely sheer back.
This look couldn’t be more perfect for Rooney. It’s gothic with a girlie twist, but it’s a shame some of the details are lost against the black background.
The Nicholas Kirkwood for Prabal Gurung heels would’ve been the perfect choice, but Rooney opted for black Christian Louboutin Mary Jane patent peep-toes instead.
With her hair smoothly lacquered, the actress completed her look with red lippie.
This look has become my favourite out of the three she’s sported this week.
Which one would you like to see up for BDOTW?

She pulls this off well and looks frothy and beautiful. While I’m not fond of her interviews as of late, I’m warming up to her fashion choices. Her team/stylist is doing a great job on her.
The Givenchy is definitely the best. I must say, though, in all three looks, her hair and make-up has been perfect. It must be tough to make that haircut work, but she achieves it.
Agree on everything.
Finally! Rooney Mara has finally pulled it all together, and then some. This is truly exquisite, from head to toe. The hair and make-up are simply flawless (that second close-up shot is just gorgeousness personified), the dress strikes the perfect balance between hard and soft, revealing and discreet, and the shoes are immaculately understated, letting the dress speak for itself. BDOTW, without question.
I have to agree with Martin again. I love this look. I admire her for pulling off a tricky look like this. She is gorgeous and she has a real presence.
I vote for the Givenchy Couture; the black / white contrast works great for her.
Perfection. It’s gothic chic.
Well, I’m in love with the hair, makeup and the BACK. I find the front too distracting. All I see is the dress.
Agree 100 percent. Love the back. Hate the front.. And she gives great face.
same hair…
I really like this one, I think it suits her so well. I would favour it for BTOTW.
i’m over this death warmed over with bright red lipstick thing she has going
This one. STUNNING !
FC, I agree with you on shoes-this dress SCREAMS standout shoes! Her choice sadly let’s it down for me
I think this outfit has, of the three choices, the most successful outing. Everything comes together perfectly, the look, the mood, the execution. She looks gorgeous!
I love this look, pick this one for BDOTW!
+1
You know what? I really like this girl. She still young and those are her first red carpet appearance, but she’s appealing: she can improve!
Love this last look, it’s my favorite too! BTOW worthy off course
I love it. This is the right look for her.
D: I loved this on the runway and wanted to see it on the red carpet, but I really wish it hadn’t been her, as mean as that sounds. Xp
I could imagine no one else in this dress. Perfection, this is my BDOTW nominee.
I’m torn between this and the Givenchy. I prefer the Givenchy gown, but love her hair/makeup with this look.
Smart girl. Just imagine her at the Oscars .
Absolutely love this. I’d have also liked a statement cuff/a pair of cool stud earrings & a box clutch but otherwise this is a great look. It finally fits in all the right places and she seems more comfortable in it than in a gown.
This is a really great look for her, my favorite so far. However, I feel as though if she’s not careful, she is going to risk styling herself into a box; people won’t be able to see her as anything other than the goth chick from the dragon tattoo movies. That’s great for the promotion of this particular franchise, but not so much for her career on the whole.
I’m so glad the back isn’t ruined by an ugly exposed zipper as seen on too many gowns. She looks absolutely flawless here. A tough decision but I was enchanted with the Givenchy.
Personally I don’t like a thing about this look except Rooney’s beauty and confidence. I especially don’t like the back. The Givenchy for the win!
Love, love, love! This one is my favourite!
Love the back — that makes the dress for me.
This is my favourite, but I imagine that the givenchy was better in real life, btu photo-wise it looked too heavy.
Rooney is playing this promo tour exactly right, very withdrawn, restrained, hard and sophisticated, severe and mysterious.
This one!!! Gorgeous!
Love Love Love!
I love that she doesn’t opt for safe looks! She looks amazing in this dress! This and her London premiere outft were the best, with the London premiere one winning for me!
BDOTW. and im glad her hair finally looks good again.
this one is my favorite, interesting from every angle and so perfect for her current image.
Best of her looks so far, though I still want at least small studs. Come one, jewelry doesn’t hurt.
Great look. The dress, shoes, and hair all work together. Bravo.
Rooney Mara looked striking in the Givenchy – but this is the more memorable look, for me.
LOVE this on her. Everything. Head to toe.
