Shailene Woodley was flying solo on the red carpet at the Dubai Film Festival to promote her new movie, ‘The Descendants’, in the United Arab Emirates this weekend.
The young actress looked pretty wearing a Dolce & Gabbana ¾ length sleeve dress.
Her lilac dress is a beautiful colour on her, but I’m let down by the styling.
I really wish she’d worn her hair back and opted for more interesting footwear.
This look would’ve been lifted with some colourful print pumps or a solid stand out colour.

She looks very pretty. I forgive the shoes bc she looks so pretty.
Although on second read, with FC’s styling suggestions this could have been a BDOTW contender.
OMG her hair is TO DIE FOR! Lush, thick and shiny! I would wear it like that if mine looked like that!
+1 I love her hair !
amazing hair, lucky girl
she’s pretty,
Is the dress is the same with Scarjo wore at Oscar this year?
i think she could do with a trim…but otherwise her hair is so beautiful. So shiny and thick….grrr.
not sure about the dress. it looks a bit matronly to me.
Her long messy hair is the major problem here, should`ve been neater. I`d suggest a delicate silver sandal, and a better posture for a better silhouette.
I’m not used to seeing actresses this young wearing hemlines at this length, that alone, is different.
Gorgeous girl–I think yellow accessories would have been fun but I LOVE this look on her regardless! BDOTW contender…though Taylor Swift is for the win.
so tired of everyone wearing the read version so im glad she went with this color.
I really dislike the hair, it looks like there’re lots of extensions.
she does not wear extensions her hair is natural
I know, it’s just that the last part of the locks seem a bit fake, maybe because of the lighter color… maybe I exaggerated a bit, because she has great hair, I express myself in a wrong way
She *is* in Dubai, which has a rather conservative aura because Saudi Arabia is a primarily Muslim country – perhaps that’s why she went for a modest look?
Sonya, I disagree with your point about Shailene dressing conservatively. Dubai is not in Saudi Arabia. Also, Dubai does allow women to wear what they want, as it has citizens form many parts of the world.
Other actresses wore different looks, for instance, Anuskha Sharma wore a sleeveless gown by for her premiere by Rachel Gillbert, see here:

Also, what if Shailene wanted to wear something that covered her arms?
The dress looks like Nana’s hankie and she could use a serious trim.
Thats actually her real hair. I know lucky huh?
I wish the dress was a bit shorter, but i love the make up. She looks pretty though.
I like what she’s wearing, but I wish she had opted for pumps in a different colour.
She always looks fabulous not to over the top and yet still classy! love her look
