Joely Richardson joined Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig on the red carpet in London tonight for world premiere of ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’.
The British actress donned a Louis Vuitton Fall 2011 look.
Her black and ivory lozenge embroidered dress was teamed with a black and red patent leather quilted clutch plus black LV peep-toes with a gold padlock detail.
Whilst she looked better in her LV Fall 2011 look than Lara Bingle, her hair doesn’t work on this occasion.
Joely always wears her hair down and behind the ears, but this look needed a chic bun.

I agree with you about the hair, but I must say that this dress is nonsense, I like the skirt but not the top.
This look is way off the mark for Richardson, in more than one way. She’s intrinsically too sophisticated (perhaps it’s her facial structure) for such a young, pinafore-look bodice. Add to that the hair, which does nothing but fight with everything else. She’s best in tailored, polished looks, imo.
Couldn’t agree more. This dress is gorgeous but all wrong for her.
i also agree.
You’re right.
The shoes are beautiful.
On the runway it looks very sexy and dangerous and on the real life…it looks dated :/
The hair and the dress combine to make an unflattering Alice in Wonderland effect.
+1 completely.
Like a lot of Vuitton’s recent collections it’s not transported well on to the red carpet.
Thanks for all updates -must be manic but I always look forward to Mondays so I can check on what;s new on RCFA.
My pleasure.
Monday’s can get hectic
The dress is beautiful. I think she could have pulled it off with a bun and better shoes.
looks like a waitress
Personally I think this feels like the perfect look for a young girl…Elle Fanning or Hailee Steinfeld, and regardless of who wore it…I agree, FC! It needed a sleek, chic bun!
I don’t hate it, but I also don’t love it. Just correct.
It’s almost impossible to compare this to the way Lara Bingle wore it (that was all kinds of wrong!). It’s very playful on the runway and I agree to a degree that this would be great for a younger girl but the fit is beautiful on her body. I’m not a huge fan of this dress but it’s not a huge fail wither. The shoes are divine but the hair should have been in a bun.
