Nicole Richie joined Diane Kruger in wearing black on the red carpet at the 2011 UNICEF Ball which took place in LA last night.
The creative director for House of Harlow and Winter Kate has gone from boho, to being obsessed with Halston, to her current phase which is a very chic and sophisticated grown-up look.
Oh how she’s grown from being Paris Hilton’s sidekick.
Nicole’s Osman Fall 2011 gown has a leather cut-out bodice with a sleek black skirt with a train.
Her gown is sexy but her styling is elegant, with a simple updo, kohl-rimmed eyes and ornate earrings.
No Nicole look is complete without a clutch from her House of Harlow collection.
Which look do you prefer? The runway or Nicole’s version?

wow…
This looks like a ripoff of the Michael Kors dress that Leighton Meester and Beyonce have worn before. The runway dress was 10000x better.
I agree with you, I thought about L. Meester, too but that dress was beautiful, while this one is quite unflattering, in my opinion. I prefer the runway version, anyway.
That;s exactly what I thought, but this one is not as well tailored, it is gaping under the bodice and much less flattering.
Just wanted to post that.
+3. Awful.
LOL thought the SAME thing Mahima! Leighton rocked that look…this just looks bad.
THANK YOU!!!… I know I wasn’t the only one thinkin’ that….
This is nice, but I wish she’d stuck with the original colors. With the black it looks too similar to the Michael Kors dress that Leighton Meester wore last year.
That’s what I thought too!!
and its not even all over jersey.. its half leather half jersey like michael kors..
I think she is a little too short for this gown and it looks as though she is drowning in it at the bottom. But that is not my major issue with it actually – ironically, the cut-outs (rather than giving her shape in the waist and drawing the eye in) actually make her look thick in the mid-section, which she is most certainly not. Concept is good, execution is lacking.
I agree.
same here. I am not sure why she does not tailor the bottom of her dresses, they tend to be too long. With her being on the petite side it makes her look even shorter.
I love it. She looks stunning and I definately prefer her look to the runway.
I don’t like this style on her, and I think her ever-present bangs serve to age her at times. She’s looked far better
I’ll always pick color over black. I agree with the above posters who say this looks too much like the leather Michael Kors dress Leighton Meester and Beyonce wore.
not bad in black but the “coture” is in the colour in this ocasion!
Very chic. Love her accessories. Those clutches are going to sell like hot cakes, aren’t they?
they are pretty much sold out
I think that black was a better choice for her.
This looks stiff and ill fitting and unflattering.
I think the fit of the dress is better on Nicole, but I would like to see her wear the colourful runway version.
I love the runway version. The black doesn’t fit Nicole properly (because of her new boobs, possibly) and her hair has been tragic lately. She’s stuck in a rut.
WHY OMG RUNWAY VERSION OF COURSE!!!! sigh
I love the runway version but for Nicole, I like this black version.
I don’t think the fit is great on either version – the original MK design looked far more flattering than either of these.
I think the Micheal kors version looked liked both Leighton Meester and Beyonce were poured into the dress. They were about to burst out. Leighton looked like wonderwoman minus the red, it is such as unflattering cut. But Nicole Richie looks comfortable and relaxed and can breathe. I much prefer this version. She looks super chic!
