Rachel McAdams stepped out on the red carpet last night for the LA premiere for ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’ which was held at the Regency Village Theatre.
The gorgeous actress looked dazzling on the red carpet wearing a Marchesa Resort 2012 gown.
This embroidered long-sleeve cowl-back gown is very much more like it. It’s sleek, sexy and gives Rachel a beautiful silhouette.
I love that she opted for a fresh, simple look, only applying a light pink matte lip colour.
To ensure her gown was the main focus, she styled her hair into an intricate, knotted updo with a few wispy pieces framing her face.
Glittery Christian Louboutin ankle boots and Jacqueline Nerguizian jewels completed her BDOTW-worthy look.
Does this gown feel déjà vu to you?
That may be because it similar in style to Diane Kruger’s 2009 ‘Inglourious Basterds’ Cannes Film Festival Marchesa gown.

Soooo gorgeous! BDOTW for sure!
me too!
At last!
Guess we were in desperate need of a good Marchesa look.
This is lovely from head to toe.
yes, we needed this
+2. I was losing all faith. BDOTW contender for sure.
+3 – stunning!
That is exactly what I was thinking, she provided probably the most recent Marchesa look that I have liked while at Cannes, and this is equally, if not more gorgeous. So many people have done dresses like this, Hilary swank in the red Elie Saab and her guy laroche oscar gown are what this most immediately reminds me of, but it’s such a classic silhouette, and when doe right, works beautifully. BDOTW contender for sure.
Love this! Marchesa finally pleased me! Racheal looks A-mazing!
Awesome Marchesa dress. I think it might be my favourite ever. She looks amazing.
such a great look! definitely bdotw contender
looooooooooooooooooooooove it so much!
lovely but slightly deja vu indeed
Wow so beautiful.
Finally, she stepped out for red carpet last night with perfection.
BDOTW .
Could she be any more perfect?
Love it! She reminds me of Amber Heard here.
I like this gown but not on her. I don’t think she suits silver well. This would look better on a brunette or a darker skin tone.
I agree completely that this is not her color. But her body looks ravishing in the gown, her hair is gorgeous, love the shoes. Just wish the gown was a different, more flattering hue.
Molly – i totally agree. I am not as sold on the dress as most here, but i love the styling and the shoes.
I think Rachel McAdams looks phenomenal no matter what she wears. Such natural beauty. Love the hair, the make-up, the dress isn’t my fave but it looks great on her. I need to see her in Elie Saab again though.
wow! this is an AMAZING look for her~beautiful hair, gorgeous body! And I absolutely love the unexpected sparkly bootie. My only wish is that her hair was either darker (love her as a red head) or just blond all over *(not digging the dark roots framing her face). BUT other than that, Loooove this!
Finally – a Marchesa gown that doesn’t look like it was designed for a frou frou fairy on acid.
LOL @ frou frou fairy.
You hit the nail on head k.b.s. I used to adore some of their dresses in the beginning of their fashion label, but they seemed to edit their design less and less so that not even one single design element stood out. This dress is a pleasant break from the norm. Also, they’re not exactly Roland Mouret when it comes to fitting (their wedding collection fall 2012 is really awfull) but this dress fits her perfectly.
I meant awful
.
Wow – finally a Marchesa that I like. She looks great. Definitely BDOTW contender.
I missed Rachel on the red carpet and to see her looking perfect after a long time is very nice to see.
This is definitely a BDOTW contender.
But does it seems to me or does she have grey hair?
A+ outfit & hair
FINALLY! A great Marchesa! This is SOOOOO BDOTW worthy…beats Taylor and Emily for me.
LOVE!
OMG. It looks so amazing from every side. But I dislike the makeup. It’s too light and she’s looking too colorless.
Lovely, sure. But is it a bit much for a swash-buckling, action movie premiere? This is a Globes or maybe even Oscar dress.
The gown is to die for…….but its wasted on her. Plus, ankle boots?! Just no.
Both of Rachel’s most recent Marchesa looks (this one and her drop dead gorgeous red Cannes number) are STUNNING. Major kudos to her stylist! Blake Lively should take a lesson from the Rachel playbook, at least when it comes to styling (I won’t bother to go into talent hehehe). Anyway I feel like it has been a long time since Rachel has graced the red carpet and I’m so happy to see her back. Now if only we can get her and Ryan Gosling back together
I love her!
Diane Kruger immediately came to my mind when I saw Rachel McAdams in this Marchesa gown. That’s not a bad thing, of course, because Rachel looks gorgeous in this gown. The shoes she opted for may not be the most obvious choice, but I think they go really well with the dress. Her hair and make-up are perfect, so for me, she is another BDOTW contender.
Pure elegance!
to me it reminds much more Sienna’s look at BAFTA 2007
both dresses are to die for
Love the hair but feeling so-so about the gown. I don’t think Rachel has the height or best proportion to pull off a form fitting gown. The shoes are interesting, like Cinderella’s glass slippers.
Love the hair, hate the shoes. Wishing for a stronger eye or lip–I think she’s a bit washed out. Agreed, it would’ve been stunning on a brunette.
Also, its just not fair to compare anyone to Diane Kruger!! She always wins!
She looks quite lovely, thought I’d have preferred a sandal. But then, I’m heavily biased against booties.
Flawless. Rachel is so beautiful!
