Anne Hathaway made a return to the red carpet for the 2011 Kennedy Center Honors Gala in Washington, D.C. on Saturday night.
Like Emily Blunt, Anne opted for Giambattista Valli, wearing a strapless black-column Resort 2012 dress.
For a strapless black dress, there is a lot going on with this look.
Between Anne’s pale skin, wine-coloured lips and nails and severe bun, not to mention her diamond choker and chunky black platforms, the look becomes a tad harsh – even a bit gothic.
To show off the bodice bow detailing, and to soften the overall look, we’d ditch the choker and let down Anne’s signature tousled waves.

I’m on the fence with the necklace, but I think she looks fine. Not earth shattering, but fine.
I’m not a fan of Anne Hathaway on the red carpet, but this time I think she’s absolutely flawless.
The dress is lovely, but what I like the most is the styling! Those shoes, that diamond choker, a neat hairdo and a beautiful ruby red lipstick is what is takes to make her shine.
I’m on board with losing the choker (totally out of place) and letting down the hair to soften it up and let the dress shine.
Not too bad but I think the problem is the shoes. If we couldn’t see the shoes it would be gorgeous! My favourite bit is definitely her new engagement ring
I think she needs a necklace so I like that part of the look. It’s the shoes that are too heavy with the dress.
boring
I thin she looks suitably elegant for the type of event she’s at.
I think she is styled perfectly for the event
What I’d do is get rid of the choker but still keep the hair, ditch the clutch and get platformless black sandals. Also a softer lip shade would make things a lot more romantic.
i think it’s an okay look. nothing stunning, but i assume due to the nature of the event she wanted to keep it on the more conservative side.
I don’t like the makeup, the hair, the necklace. All in all, not her best.
Michelle Obama looked amazing at this event.
I think she looks a bit harsh and matronly.
Hadn’t even noticed the necklace, think she looks great. Love that bow!
Does anyone know who the designer of Anne’s stage outfit?
